Last I heard the information togetherforever13 gave is correct that the SOs of the person being interviewed are no longer allowed inside the embassy during the interview. When things were more calm there are places like McDonald's and KFC for them to wait in outside and nearby. However, with the protests in and around the Garden City area near the Embassy they're advising Americans to stay away and out of the area. Things may calm down by the time of your interview however and there a couple of nice and inexpensive hotels he could wait at nearby while you interview but why would he do that when he could just wait where ever you two are staying and save the additional expense.

To answer your question simply he doesn't need to be in the interview with you.

They want to interview YOU not ur husband:); There is no need for him to come with you; if he comes they will tell him to wait outside anyway; Bring all ur documents, photos, any proof of ur relationship you have and be ready for the questions:)

Thank you all! The embassy in Cairo will be open as of Tom. sunday the 16th enshallah, so good news fromcairo. actually, so far it,s very calm and things are back to normal around the embassy. The police cleared all the trouble makers and arrested like 200 people, so fingers crossed

I would be scared to be in Egypt now! Makes me so sad! When I was there in 2009 people were so welcoming and I felt so safe. Hopefully some day things will return to normal.
