I have been waiting for what seems like a lifetime for my NOA2. Does anyone know if my fiance (from the Philippines) come here to the US and visit me? And if so how long does it take for her vacation visa to be approved?

You can always read the stickie at the top of the forum page: "Yes, you can visit!" for more information. However, previous responses are pretty spot on.

1)Yes she can visit.

2)She has to apply for a B1/B2 visa (used for business & pleasure) and she will be approved/denied (typically on spot) based on her ties (property ownership, type of occupation etc).

3)Since your fiance has already got a K1 petition pending she has already shown immigrant intent (will not return home) so it will be quite difficult for her to get a tourist visa.

If she is denied why not meet her in a country that doesn't require a visa from her and have a real vacation?

Edit: Please note that it's Friday night, Gowon misses Gowoner most terribly and is mildly imbibed on Fosters (damn Aussies and their oil cans).

As a frequent visitor of the land down under, Aussies do not drink Foster's as they think it is hideous.

Foster's in America is not true blue, not fair dinkum. It's fake.

Try a Kooinda Pale Ale.

OP.. It indeed will not be easy to get a tourist visa, not impossible, just not likely. But it will not affect your K1 process if denied either.

Wouldn't it be easier for you to just visit her in the Philippines than spending all that time, energy and money trying to get her a tourist visa which is really hard to get approved? Anyways, good luck if you still want to pursue that route.

Just speaking from my experience... Since you have already applied for a visa (K1?), it is going to be next to impossible for your fiance to get a visitors visa. You can try... After all, it is only money you have to spend and lose. Once your fiance appears for the visa interview s/he will know immediately whether or not the visa is approved before leaving the interview. My advice, save your money and spend it when your fiance gets to the US.

It will be very unlikely that your fiancée will be granted a tourist visa. She would have to prove ties to her home country which without knowing her I would say would be limited as she plans to start a new life in the US relatively soon.

The easiest way for you to see each other would be for you to go to the Phillipines.

- If your fiancée was lucky enough to get a tourist visa it would generally be stamped in her visa straight away. They generally deny or approve tourist visas on the spot. In rare cases there will be AP or a deferred decision.

That chances that a girl from the Philippines, who has already applied for a K1 visa, would be granted a visiter visa to the US, is about 0%.

She would have to show a permanent job there, own land, have super strong family ties, something to show without any doubt that she would return. Very very very hard for the average Filipina to do.

Much easier for you to go there to visit, or just wait it out.

As others have said,it will be almost impossible. Do not waste your money.

Speaking from experience... if you never try you will never know. My wife visited twice on a B1/B2 while our petition was being adjudicated. If you have the means and meet the requirements there is no reason not to.
