hi sorry! its me. my "Brandon and Rose" account, i cant access it anymore. so here is my new account now.

CFO went well when i had mine. when i was filling out the forms, the girl asked me if i had my cfo seminar and sticker before since i was married to japanese (previous husband). i said YES and i gave it to her. while having my seminar that day, i was really worried and hopeful that everything will goes well. after the seminar we had this one on one interview with the CFO officer.i was still using my previous husband surname in my passport so the officer asked me about it and i said i was divorce. she didnt even asked for my divorce cert or the papers that i filed the petition for recognition for divorce in phil. everything went well. so after that i believed that CFO is "NOT" for approval or denial of cfo sticker. they are just conducting seminar on how life will be living outside the PH.

Hi...and welcome back to your thread! I'm glad you noticed that your old thread had been resurrected because I was really wondering how it went at your interview, and especially how it went at your CFO seminar. I'm happy that everything went well for you. :star:

I didn't think you would have any problem with your Embassy interview. However, I was concerned with the CFO. I'm glad they didn't give you any trouble.

It's interesting that you would be required to complete the CFO seminar a second time. You also completed it before you went to Japan.

Did you ever complete your judicial recognition of foreign divorce case?

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I really appreciate it. I have not seen any other threads here about how the CFO handles Filipino beneficiaries who were previously married in the Philippines and have a foreign divorce, especially when the divorce has not been judicially recognized by a Filipino court. You have provided some much-needed information. Thanks again! :star:

sigh, this is a relief.. thank you.. been really looking for infos like this coz im really worried , im of same situation

Been married here in Phils but didnt went to level CFO as my relationship with my ex husband didnt work out and

the IR1/CR1 visa application got denied for lack of evidence, ex got an RFE and didnt really care about it anymore.

BUT, Im using my Ex husband's last name on my ID's and my passport which means im using his lastname on the

k1 visa application and stuff

So i got my Divorce decree from utah , it was a long wait but worth it, Thank GOD.

And sent the K1 application recently. GOD bless our visa journey.

Keep us posted about your visa journey. I would be interested to see whether your CFO seminar goes smoothly. You shouldn't have any problem.

Did you notice that the CFO didn't ask Rose/Jasmine for her divorce papers or a judicial recognition of a foreign divorce.

Hi!

I'm already divorce to my Japanese ex-husband in japan. And now I have American boyfriend in U.S. And he wants to petition me as a fiancé visa and planning to marry me in U.S. Just want to know if the U.S embassy in Philippines consider my divorce papers/ divorce certificate ( translated in English) in japan as proof that I'm free to marry? Or do I need to get a CENOMAR/CENMAR in NSO? My Philippine passport is still my ex-husband surname. I can't change my status in philippines 'coz I don't enough money 'coz I heard it expensive and it takes time... And besides I'm going to Marry in U.S not in the Philippines .

Someone told me that "I will need to apply for the change status if I'm still planning to reside in japan & re-marry again in japan or reside in the Philippines and re-marry in the Philippines, if not then I don't have to...."

And some says that I need to file & get recognition of foreign divorce in the Philippine before i can re-marry again or before I can apply K1 Fiancé visa.... And need to get a lawyer for the processing and it cost 200,000 pesos and it takes 6months to 1yr

And I don't know what is the truth....or what I really need to do.....

My boyfriend & I worried about it....

But after I read Brandon&rose/Jasmine427 story I was relieved^_^ thank you for sharing.....

Just want to know how long it takes the processing of your (Brandon & Rose) K1 fiancé visa?

And do I need a police clearance from japan as a one of the requirements?

Thank you!

I believe you asked this same question in the K-1 forum. To answer best the question still needs to be answered -

Being your passport is in your EX husband's surname you either married in the Philippines or had your marriage reported in the Phils correct?

Who petitioned for the divorce in Japan you or your EX husband? If your EX husband petitioned for the divorce then you need to record it with NSO so that your CEMAR will have the notation of divorce. If you filed for the divorce it will not be recognized in the Phils and you will need to do the annulment process.

USEM requires a CENOMAR with the K-1 visa.

Plus CFO requires to see a copy of your CENOMAR for the seminar to get the sticker.

One way or another you need to get this handled to move forward.

if you are planning to marry again in philippines., you need to file for petition for recognition, but if you are planning to get married in u.s, all you need is a divorce paper from japan embassy manila and get your japan police cert in embassy also. police cert may take 3-4 months to be release..

if you are planning to revert back your maiden name to your passport or change your name to your soon to be husbands surname when you get married, then you need to file divorce in phil. to have anotated MC. phil embassy here in u.s will ask for your recognition for divorce and anotated MC When you file for report of marriage and change your new surname. but u can do that later..

you dont need CENOMAR in cfo coz you were married and divorce now. you just have to bring a copy of your divorce paper and CEMAR on your seminar..

you and your fiance can start filing the petition as soon as you have the very recent copy of your divorce cert. just make sure that the name you will use in your petition is the name that you are using on your passport..

processing of the petition may take 6months to a year it depends if theres no delays..

So the embassy instructions letter is wrong ... a CENOMAR is not a required document for the K-1 visa? Really!

m. CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE RECORD (CENOMAR). If you have never contracted marriage,
a CENOMAR (Singleness) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and printed on NSO security
paper should be submitted. You may call the NSO Information Center at 02-737-1111 to inquire on
securing a CENOMAR or visit their website at http://www.census.gov.ph.

for idea and experience, the embassy is not wrong asking for a cenomar FOR single individuals. We, "individuals' who are divorced in the US and married in the Philippines cannot submit a cenomar because we are married already. and we have certificate of marriage and so we are exempted on that. So thats why i submitted my Certificate of Marriage (Divorce Decree as a attachment) and that is for letter M on the documentation for interview.

PS. Filipino COnsuls in the Philippines already know about this situation and so thats why they do not ask for CENOMAR for "Divorced Individuals"
