k2 interview after passport exp date HELP!

My step daughter came as a follow along to my wife's k1. Wife came 11/10, green card 6/11. Stepdaughter came 1/12. We filed the adustment papers in early spring. We got a rft and replied. Today, they set an interview for 10/16/12. The problem is step daughter's passport exp 9/28/12. So we can not use it to go interview. Russia will take 3 months to give new passport. USCIS will not move interview because it is not seen as a void reason to move it. We have appointment 9/24/12 to talk about the problem.

We can not get SS card or use her passport for a state id card. So we have no way to get a valid id for the 10/16 interview. We can not even get her into the building.

Any suggestions?

It seems you are going to have to keep the appointment date, but as you said to get into the building a valid passport will be needed. I hope you get a better answer than I could provide Good luck

It seems you are not getting any answers, I am just going to throw some ideas out. Have you/your wife contacted the Russian embassy here in the USA? Maybe some type of short extension can be given??

I know USCIS is not the most pleasant phone call to make and most of the time it is not at all helpful, but try calling them? I have no idea how Russia works and wish I could give you better advice-- maybe try posting it again in a bit of a different way and maybe someone will have some experience that could help you.

have you ordered a new passport from your embassy/consulate?

you have bigger issues than not getting to the interview if she ends up having no passport.
