ok rang nvc today to check about the medical and they say under no circumstances get the medical until the interview date is set

my guess is that because my daughter will receive IR-2 10 year permanent resident card when she arrives and not a 2 year conditional, thats why it cant be scheduled any earlier

once we know interview date can anyone suggest when to book a flight, like 2 weeks after interview date would that be good or should we wait a little longer just in case a delay with post, anyone got any suggestions thx

Normally i would say wait until the visa is in your hands but i didnt take my own advice! I booked mine for the 22nd October after a 3rd October approval. The visa is scheduled for delivery today (one week after interview). So i would leave close to 3 weeks as a minimum really if youre going to do it in advance.

Thanks! And as an added bonus (not that I could be much happier about seeing my husband and being almost done with all this crazy immigration stuff), I'll be in London for the opening of the new James Bond movie! I'm making my hubby take me to watch as a celebration

awww bless my little girl well she is even tho she's 21, told her think we'd be pushing booking flight to get her here for 22nd nov ( interview 13th nov ) and would maybe leave it until the following week,

her reply..." well your just gonna have to wait another week to celebrate thanksgiving, cos you aint got anything to be thankful for until i get there"

point taken but by i was looking forward to the prime rib a bit earlier lol

Did you get your visa?

Yeah i did 7 days after the interview. Booked in for 8am to 6pm delivery which arrived at 8pm. I wish i had paid the £6 extra for before 12 noon delivery now!

her medical is in a few hours time then interview 13th nov, flight booked for 30th nov, a late thanksgiving, then a big welcome party, oh yeh then christmas.......been an expensive year, but cannot put a price on your kids can you

listening to the presidential election earlier and they were talking about immigrants, got to say i dont think the situation is that bad at all for the legal ones, they seem to be doing a pretty good job

Congrats! He should be ok, just! They seem to take about a week for most people.

yes medical went fine, said she was in and out in 15 mins , she just needed to have a flu jab,, so now a few weeks to wait for interview and then 2 weeks after that she'll be here....

Head's up to my fellow UK interviewees for November - my husband got a call from the US Embassy in London this morning telling him they were overbooked for November and tried to move his appointment a few weeks back! Apparently, the only thing that helped us to keep our date was the fact that I had already made arrangements to travel to London to attend, so they only changed our appointment time. Just wanted to give you all a head's up in case you get phone calls as well!
