I am not an american citizen but we have a wedding reception dinner in the USA.(No wedding ceremony).

My spouse is also not an american citizen and doesn't have Green card either.

Our Russian friend and his girlfriend are willing to come join the reception.

He has dual nationality so he doesn't have any problem to visit the us without applying any visa, but she is Russian and she has to get a tourist visa to come to the us.

I have heard that it would be really hard to get the us visa for Russians but he told us the hotel they will be staying can be a sponsor for the visa.

Is that true?

So far, sounds like they are not using the travel agency, they are trying to book their flights and hotel by themselves.

However, she is going to use the special visa agency and agency people can help her to get the invitation letter from the us citizen who are working at hotels.

The letter should be a personal invitation but Russians are staying at the hotel the us citizen are working so those americans can make extra money for themselves. He said that how it works, same as Chinese people do to get the us visa.

Plus she has a really high salary job as a pharmacist in Moscow (working less than 2 years I believe, she is still under 25 and graduated university 2010 or 2011). and her mom is rich enough because she is a doctor.

They have travelled alot to Asia and Europe with no visa issues so he said that also helps.

Also our russian friend who has dual natinality doesn't have the us citizenship or green card, so no risk for the us if she might be staying in the us after the visa expired with return ticket and no problem for her to get the tourist visa, it is so easy. Is it true?

Sounds to me, hardly believe this story.

The reception will be held within 2 months from now so we want to know how many people are coming because we might have to change the venue we have already booked.

So my question is, is there a huge chance to be rejected her tourist visa for the us?

Or it is easy for her to get the visa than I expected from my knowledge?

Does anyone know anything about these things?

Thanks for your help.

As you may have read, every applicant seeking a tourist visa to presumed to coming to the US to remain..(in spite of expat's thoughts to the contrary)...no third party nor organization can 'guarantee' that the visa applicant will abide by our laws....they (the applicants) must convince the consular folks that they will abide by the terms of a tourist visa,...round trip airline tickets do not act as proof that the applicant will depart the US, nor can a hotel do anything to overcome the presumption of immigrant intent.

On the surface, sounds like she has good chances...but there is always a variable as to how she conducts herself at the interview..
