of course you can fly from LAX without actually entering the USA. You would be a transit passenger on an international flight from Canada connecting to an international flight to Japan. Thousands of people do this every day. Whatever they flagged you for relating to US customs and immigrations is irrelevant to your trip to Japan as long as you're not trying to enter the USA. rgds, will
