First time I hear the NVC returning the petition to USCIS for background check.

I guess what happened that the background either was not done, or got lost or not entered into the system.

Background check does not take 6 month, its just the standard response.

Be patient and hope soon you hear something.

Good luck

I seen a few of these go back to uscis last year

some for clerical errors on the forms that uscs missed and nvc found right away and sent back

some were for criminal history or

previous petitions

many reasons

call your congressman. I think when the file is sent back it adds a few months onto your wait.

I am sorry.

Good Luck
