thank you so much for your help, I just contacted NVC and ask for my new case number, the lady that spoke to me was very cordial and also told me that they send my application to the consulate yesterday.

So next week you can call or email the Embassy and ask if they received your application from the NVC. They will look it up via your Case #. Read through the Embassy link that I posted to you to get information on your specific country. You can downlad the forms that they need from you and start filling those out. That link should tell you most of the stuff they need for the interview.

I received my NOA2 on August 31, how do I know when NVC receive it ?? I went to my inmigration lawyer and she told me not to call them to verify the status, cause everytime u call them they have to pull out my case and it will delay the process, she advise me to wait for the letter. how long usually takes for them to receive it ??

Dump the uninformed attorney. Try to get your money back

You will get a letter but you can waste your time calling all you want...won't hurt anything, won't change anything. Takes 3 days to 8 weeks to get the letter from NVC. Sorry not a better estimate but it is what it is. If you get put in "AP" it can take 8 weeks or even more.

call my lawyer and send her an invoice of what ??, any notification I received she received it too, so the letter they sending me they receiving a copy too.. now I guess it will take like another week for me to received it and another and a half for the consulate in uk to receive my aplication.

Your case will easily be in London by Monday. But it may take 3-4 weeks for London to open the mail, log in your case, create your file and notify you by mail that they are ready for you to apply for the visa. Do not call the embassy to see if they have your case. It costs money for them to answer the phone 1.23 pounds/min. And they won't tell you a thing.

Everything you should be doing now is in a thread pinned in the UK forum. There's even a copy of the letter the beneficiary will receive from London. You may begin filling out forms and getting your documents for the interview now. Then when London sends your instructions, you'll be ready to send your things in without delay because you learned your instructions in advance and prepared.. London 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

Nessmj77 has a different embassy and a different procedure than you will in London. Time to move out of K1 forum over to the UK forum to get the correct information for your embassy. Each has their own way of doing things.

There's really no reason to criticize the lawyer for saying not to call NVC. Calling is not part of the procedure and is not necessary. It's only for people who can't wait for the mail to know their case moved to the next step. Yes he gave a silly reason about a file having to be pulled, but still he got their petition approved when they failed twice before on their own. Some people need a lawyer to do their paperwork for them. It may take longer waiting on the lawyer, but maybe they will get the visa this third try.

I don't mean to hijack the tread but out of curiosity, does the petitioner have to contact the NVC and embassy to make sure they received the petition or can the benificiary just wait to hear from the embassy? Does getting the case number prior actually speed things up?

I'm assuming it just follows the normal process after getting the NOA2 regardless, and you are contacted by the Embassy in due course - but I haven't got that far yet.

.......anyone ?? :pop:

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

MY I-130 was approved on the 5th of September. I called NVC and they told me to wait 15-30 days before recieving the case from uscis... I have not been patient since the 5th I've called them 4times... And will continue calling them no matter what they say...:) So just call them. yes you have to wait on the phone for 14-25 minutes however, its worth the wait.....

Good luck- And am going to call them again tmrw....:)

Thanks for this information Nick, btw I'm the petitioner, just don't want this time to be mess up, lawyer was hired after 2 different previous visas denied, I got tired of paying a lot of money calling n not getting the right answers. My lawyer says that the more u call them the more time will take as they will think ur a pain in the ....n then they make u wait. Should I wait for the letter of the embassy to book the medical ??? Is there a time frame to make the medical appointment after NOA2 ???

Ha Ha..."operator" was just making a little joke about how it was you that called the NVC and got the answers you were looking for, not your lawyer who did all the work  Invoice your lawyer for the time you spent on hold with the NVC :)

London doesn't deny visas very often, so if there was a reason for denial based on something about your UK fiancé, then a lawyer can't fix that. Example- a criminal conviction, especially drug related. Starting over doesnt erase a conviction. Normally with a denial you have a lawyer submit an an I601 appeal. But if you were denied because you didn't get your papers submitted, then maybe it will go better. Or maybe you mean you failed to get a petition approved before and never made it to London. What was denied? The I-129f petition or the visa at interview in London?

I don't agree with your lawyer because the people that answer the phones don't have any control over the progress of your case. They are just phone people who may get annoyed with you but have no authority to speed up or slow down your case.

If you want to call the London embassy helpline from the US, they charge a flat rate $16 to speak to you. They are not even at the embassy. It's a call center in Scotland. They are not consulate officers and can't look at your file. They give poor information so it's a waste of money.

Before his/her medical he needs to get his shot records, probably two shots, and have his police certificate in hand. Did you read the list in that thread I gave you a link for? With the LND case number the medical people will make an appointment but you're jumping the gun to attend before London logs in your case and you have submitted the application forms in my opinion. You should follow London's instructions. You'll find links in that thread. I'm not going to write it all out here, especially since you have a lawyer you pay to walk you through it.

It seems like the VJ members get better and faster results without an attorney. Unless your case is rare or has some issues that might need an attorney's guidance, one can file the application on his/her own and with the support from this website.

You are soo right with that cos i did it even after ours was sent back for review, I still did not hire an attorney and look at us now. He arrived in the US 2 days ago and we have been happy so far. All without an attorney.

1st visa we filled was a visitors one and got denied because of he's criminal record, things that happened when he was a tennager 17 yrs ago.2nd one was a visa to get marry in UK we got denied too because they said I didn't send all the papers. So this is our 3rd one and to be honest if it gets denied we don't know what else to do.

This time we are filling the I-601 so he can take it with him to the interview, can't believe the cost of it, it's a rip off !!! The lawyer I'm going to is used to work with people from the Dominican Republic so this is her 1st case out of her confort zone I guess...don't know why said that to me.I'm not calling the London Embassy as I know how expensive it is, Ive been through those calls before, and ended up with no right answers.

I read the list on the link u provide me,so he start getting he's police certificate, and shots too.I got my new case number calling NVC, but I guess we are waiting for the letter from embassy so we can book the medical. Thanks for the advised!!!

One more question. Your writing does not sound like English is your native language. May I ask if your fiancé in the UK was born in the UK or if he or his parents are from another country? People from certain countries often have a longer wait for their visa to be approved than born and raised British people.

If your attorney deals with Dominican visas, then you are going to learn more in the UK forum than he likely knows.
