I received my NOA2 on August 31, how do I know when NVC receive it ?? I went to my inmigration lawyer and she told me not to call them to verify the status, cause everytime u call them they have to pull out my case and it will delay the process, she advise me to wait for the letter. how long usually takes for them to receive it ??

They will send you a letter after they receive it. Expect it in a couple of weeks from NOA2. Or you could ignore your lawyer and call anyway, there is no pulling of a file (this isn't the 1960's) only typing a receipt number into the computer.

I would give it a week and then call NVC at 603-334-0700 to see if they have it. Once they receive it they will update their computer system. So no files are being pulled when you call. It might be busy when you call. So just hang up and call right back til you get an answer.

It seems like the VJ members get better and faster results without an attorney. Unless your case is rare or has some issues that might need an attorney's guidance, one can file the application on his/her own and with the support from this website.

Oh, sorry to hear that. After NVC receives it and approves it, they forward it to the Consulate/Embassy. The NVC had our petition for about 3 days before sending it to the Embassy. The Embassy received it the next day.

Give it a week and then they'll tell you to call them after 15 days but call everyday anyways. Find something to do for the first 15-25 mins because you'll be on hold for that long. Good luck!

Here’s specific information about your Embassy and what documents you need:

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=United%20Kingdom&cty=London

I would keep calling the NVC and say you’re checking to see if your petition has been received from USCIS yet. Once they receive it, they will give you a case #. They will also mail you a letter. Once you get that case #, you can email the Embassy a few days later to see if they received your petition that the NVC forwarded to them. That’s what I did, but I’m not sure how the UK works. It worked for Jamaica:-)

I don't mean to hijack the tread but out of curiosity, does the petitioner have to contact the NVC and embassy to make sure they received the petition or can the benificiary just wait to hear from the embassy? Does getting the case number prior actually speed things up?
