I-864 list of assets - converting foreign currency

Hi all,

I'm filling out the I-864 for myself (petitioner) and my husband (beneficiary). We live in Canada, and have a bank account in Canadian dollars. I also have a US bank account in US dollars, and he has a Russian bank account in Russian rubles. I was wondering how on earth we should list this on the I-864? Is there some sort of official foreign currency converter that we should use? Or should we list everything in the original currency (I'm assuming no, since they want you to add up all the assets, which would require a uniform currency)?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

In another thread, you mention using a joint sponsor. If so, there is no need to list any assets on your own affidavit. If you chose to list them, you must document them and convert the values to US Dollars. Documenting a Russian Bank account would require a certified translation.

Hi Pushbrk,

Thanks for your help - I really appreciate it! I am using a joint sponsor, yes, but I thought that it might help to list my assets and my husband's as well, since it doesn't hurt to show them. You don't happen to know if there's some sort of official foreign currency conversion tool that they use, or if I can just do a conversion on Google or another website?

There's no official tool. Conversion rates change daily anyway. Just use what's convenient.
