hello everyone,

here's the story.

my fiance said he submitted our K1 petition in this March 14th (exactly 6 months ago)

and we didn't get any notification, so I asked him to call USCIS to figure out our case number.

and he finally recieved the email from them with the case number two weeks ago.

and when I typed our case number, NOA1 date was Augst 23th!!

here's my questions.

1)Did anything like this happened to anyone here? (you applied a long time ago but NOA1 date on the case status was messed up for some reason.)?

2)what did you do to make it fixed?

if this kind of things have never happenned to anyone here on this forum,

I assume my fiance is not telling me the truth about the day he said he submitted...

I've been waiting for 6 months now and I was so shocked to find out about this recently.

any reply will be appreciated.

thank you for reading.

how do you see the date??

you mean the date on case status?

if that's what you mean, you can see that when you type your case number

in the USCIS home page "my case status".

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

if you are talking about the day he said he submitted, I just asked him

because there's no other way I can find out the date...

he submitted at the office desk of Texas lock box in person. (because he's living close there)

so it is possible though that they didn't route to USCIS right away...sigh

Fiance probably submitted it in August vs March. Unless you have a delivery confirmation receipt, you won't know when exactly he mailed it. NOA1s are usually coming within 3 weeks of them receiving a petition.

yes that's what I was thinking/reading on the people's post here.

we should get NOA1 within a month at the latest...

I asked him again and again if he got any kind of recipt at the desk when he submitted,

but he said he didn't. So there's no way I can track the date by myself.

it's not like I can ask him "are you lying??" especially over the internet with skype.

it is tough...

I didnt even know you can hand deliever it. I thought you needed an appointment to go. If he is telling the truth I wonder if hand delivering it was the problem? And even with an noa1 date of Aug by now he should have received the letter in the mail.

yes it is possible they messed it up somehow. well, he said he handed in person, but he was asked to put the documents in the envelope and even put a postage stamp on it. so technically it was the same as you submitted via mail.

This is the person that you are going to marry. You should be able to ask him if he really submitted it or not.

I know...I'm just afraid that I might hurt his feelings for doubting him,

if he actually submitted in March. So I decided to ask everyone's opinions/experiences

in this forum to have general idea of this matter before I go ask him.

sorry, this might be a stupid question, but: are you sure it's the date of your noa1 and not noa2????? they started approving petitions from march in late august, so maybe you already got approved. i've heard of people who never got their noa1! does the text say something like "On August ... we have approved this I129F petition..."? then it is noa2.

unfortunetely, it is NOA1 for sure. it shows "initial review" on the status and says, "On August 23, 2012, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case..."

my fiance said he's going to call USCIS tomorrow when I mentioned it this morning.

we'll see how it turns out...

thank you for suggesting the possibilty though.
