Passport as evidence of citizenship

I kept on getting confuse about using the passport as an evidence of citizenship. We already filed a request of birth certificate at the TN of vital records but it's taking so long, we had it rushed but it's not here yet and we are done with our 129-F packet and ready to be sent except we dont have my fiance(Petitioner's) birth certificate yet. So thinking about using his passport, I know I've already asked this but just want to make sure as to avoid RFE and I hope somebody will have a kind heart to answer my question.

His passport has been issued to him 2004 and it will expire in 2014. Can we use the passport?

Thank you

I also used my passport for verification of citizenship. I only copied the firs few pages with all the info and the one with the stamps from my travel. Nothing else. It worked like a charm. No RFE or anything else.

I do not think the validity matters as long as it is still valid. Why are you worried about it? It is valid until 2014. Don't make yourself go crazy by making it too complicated. Everything is really simple. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine. Immigration are people too. They understand whats going on.

Good luck to you!

The instructions state it must be an unexpired US passport that was issued with a validity of at least 5 years. Your passport is unexpired and was issued with a validity of 10 years. Just be sure and send copies of every single page in your passport from front to back.
