I just called to make an appointment at a medical center around my vicinity, (I live in Kentucky), and the lady on the phone said "the initial cost, which does NOT include immunizations and etc. is $265". My goodness, you have got to be kidding me. The initial cost, without anything? I don't want to be the only one that want to experience this. I've been reading around threads, and mostly I see that it costs about $200 or less. I just told her that I was applying for a green card and I needed a civil surgeon, nothing else. Please tell me if I need to inform her of something else, so that they may drop the price down! This is ridiculous!

Do I need a full examination along with immunizations?

Thanks for any replies that any of you may give me!

Yeah, I've been to the link for locating a civil surgeon around my area, I was wondering if anyone from Ohio or Kentucky can recommend me someone that they've seen or heard before. But thanks for the other links, I will check them out!

If you are adjusting from an F-1, then yes, you need the medical exam and all required vaccinations. You just have to call around to find the civil surgeon with the best prices.

Woah!

I am in the middle of filling out my I-485. I just read up that it is best to contact a civil servant to go over your medical stuff. But I haven't found anyone to go to yet. I'm in Michigan. I don't even know where to start

If you find out something, please let me know too! (^_^)v

When adjusting from a K-1, you do not need another medical if yours was done within a year of filing for AOS. If you had all the required vaccinations at the time of your K-1 medical and they were marked off on the DS-3025, then you do not need to see a civil surgeon.

The only vaccinations required for AOS are MMR, Tdap/TD, varicella(unless you had the chickenpox) and flu shot(only during flu season> Oct.- Mar.). You only need the first shot in a series to file for AOS.

See this post to know if the DS-3025 has everything marked off that you need and whether or not you can skip the civil surgeon: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/335754-ds-3025-complete-or-not/page__p__4971318#entry4971318

If you are missing any of the required vaccinations, then search for the post here on VJ about civil surgeons that don't rip you off. You might find one listed there that is near your area.

If you're adjusting from a K-1, maybe you don't even need to see a civil surgeon. It is not needed if your K-1 medical was done less than a year ago, and if your vaccination requirements were met at that time (and have a copy of it, the DS-3025, to prove it).

Hey everyone, thank you all for the helpful links, you've all been great.

I actually found my vaccination records from Turkey, English translated, signed by a doctor and stamped with his seal... and it's an original copy... it's not in an envelope though, it's just a piece of printed paper. It tells the dates that I have received all of the immunizations that the USCIS requires... The last time I entered the USA was on F-1 status, will this be legit if I just took it to a civil surgeon, you think he would accept this and go with it?

It also says that my PPD test was negative, but the thing is, ahem, I don't think that's legit... I think if he tests me I might actually test positive, so... I guess I can always say the doc back in Turkey might have done a mistake when he confronts me about it. I guess my question is, is he required to do the TB skin test nevertheless?
