What Happens at NVC Center?

Hi Everyone,

First off wanted to say that I asked a similar question previously but just read something that confused me. We just got approved with the NOA2 and our case has been sent to NVC. Now from what I understood. I'm supposed to call them and get a reference or reciept number. From there they process it and send it to the US Consulate (I assume in Germany because my fiance is German?) Now I guess from there they send it to his home address? I read this on the NVC website and was confused:

"USCIS Sent My Immigrant Visa Petition to the NVC. Now What Happens?

If your Priority Date meets the most recent Qualifying Date, the NVC will:

Invoice you for your visa application fees

Collect your visa application and supporting documentation

Hold your visa petition until an interview can be scheduled with a consular officer at a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate General abroad.

If your Priority Date DOES NOT meet the most recent Qualifying Date, the NVC will notify you and hold your petition until your Priority Date meets the most recent Qualifying Date. The Department of State updates the Qualifying Dates on a monthly basis."

So do I wait for a invoice? Do me or my fiance get it? Does my German Fiance have to set up an interview at the consulsar officer? Do we set up the interview now? I thought he had to go to the Embassy? I have been looking at the step by step guide and I just need some more detail and further clarification. Also if there is a fee on my half, what is it? Should we schedule an interview now, or wait until he receuves the packets? Help. :D

Thank you all,

K

within 2week call the NVC ask for your case#..not receipt# or reference#

my advise go to regional forum to get some idea what to do....in my country after receiving the noa2 within 2wks we usually start calling NVC to get our case#...then as soon as we get our case# (this is before, the USEM-Manila recently did some changes and i'm not quite familiar with their new procedure now) we pay the visa fee thru bank (BPI) ($240 visa fee)....after paying we could able to set up an appointment thru online or phone (4-24hrs after receipt activation)..hopefully your specific country have same procedure with us

goodluck

I just went to what I believe is the regional forum...I went through a few pages but haven't really found anything related to k1/Germany/etc. I just am not sure what to be looking for there. Should I ask this question there? or just keep going through page after page?

although the topic is really about the nvc - the paperwork will be there for a very short period of time before being sent on to the servicing consulate/embassy. i'll move this thread to the regional as requested as you may have further questions related to what happens once it gets to germany.

Hi! Start calling NVC a week after you got your NOA2! They will give you a case number and will forward the papers to frankfurt. You dont really have to do anything anymore but to send your fiance the affidavit of support and the letter from your job, bank statements and pay stubs. He should check out the us consulate page ( http://german.germany.usembassy.gov/visa/iv/antrag/ ) and complete step 3 through 6. You can send in everything at one time. The required documents of the checklist too. As soon as you get the case number have him get the passport type pictures(check the page for the size)taken, all his shots and then go to get the medical done. The consulate will write him a letter which will just tell him that they received the papers and give him the link that i inserted above. He can start filling it out already. Dont worry too much about the evidence of ongoing relationship. You can send in a copy of a card, maybe an email and a recent pic and thats it. He can also get the police certificate already and the international birth certificate. I got 3 since i will need them for the aos.
