RJ that has to be the nicest post in this forum that Iv'e ever seen from you. :) Is this really RJ or did someone jack your account?

TBH though it is an issue with the RUB gal and American man in regards to stereotyping. Not with all people but enough to notice, and it's came from people I would never expect it to come from and it's a bummer because I don't think some of them even realize how their acting. Iv'e even experienced it with some of my family. The wife has brought it up before seeing how she's not totally oblivious to what's going on around her but it's not so bad that we can't look it off and laugh about it. The normal stereotyping of RUB gals married to American men are that they are all natural born she devils and the only reason they married an American man is to get a green card. Again it's not that big of an issue though to what it can't be looked off with a laugh about it now and then.

Hahahaha no it's not someone different at all.

Before Wes came over to visit me the first time, I got some comments about the IRA, etc. Then people met him and realized he was just an ordinary guy (as he told me when we first chatted).

We get the occasional "head spin" out in public if he talks and people overhear him. I used to think it was really cool. Now I'm just quietly amused by it.

Americans are generally ignorant about the rest of the world. I say for the most part just ignore the ones with negative things to say. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of a public a$$ grab. Really I wouldn't. They don't pay your bills.

The only people whose comments bother me are family members. My Father is really radical in his political views and he has said some things about "socialism" that have really hurt me and Wes. I'm past chalking it up to political retardness. I've decided I'm allowed to be pissed at my Father for being an ignorant jackass. I'm his daughter FFS and if he can't separate his ugly views from things that we know to be true and factual about Wes' country, then it's just too bad. I'm not taking it lying down any longer.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

A lot of Americans are totally ignorant about the rest of the world to the point it's sickening at times. Not to bring politics into this convo but a lot of Americans that were all for wars like in Iraq couldn't find Iraq on a globe if their life depended on it. It just sucks that your dad brings in politics when around family especially if he's not clued into how it really is in other parts of the world. Most Americans have that "we're #1 attitude" even though the US isn't #1 in any of the categories that matter. Those days went away with the 90's. I think if your dad got a chance to spend sometime in England he might get a different perspective. But him bad mouthing it in front of your husband is bad manners. Same with my family though. My sister's talk to my wife and ask her some of the dumbest questions you could imagine. I mean they act like she was raised in a mud hut out in the forest or something. She even told one of my sisters to stick to reality TV and NASCAR. It went right over my sisters head. lol.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

One of the clerk's in our local courthouse once asked me if my husband speaks any English. I mean, you'd think someone who works in local government would be a little smarter than that.

I am a cold war baby, brought up to believe that America ruled the world and is Number One. I had a sneaking suspicion (as I got older) that this wasn't entirely true. I've often tried to explain to people the weird feeling I had walking around the streets of Wes' hometown the first time I was there. I can honestly remember thinking to myself - hey this isn't so bad - I don't see anybody in chains.

One reason I stick around these international web communities is to learn about the rest of the world. I don't have the money to travel everywhere I'd like to go, so I'll not see all these place with my own eyes. But I can visit them through the eyes of others and I like that.

It would do any American a lot of good to see other parts of the world - and not just the third world bits. It's humbling.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

I work long shifts and there are enough slow times I need something to do! :D

I have to agree 100% about the value of travel. But travel where you are truly seeing things the way people really live is so much better than taking a 'tour'! My appetite was created with my first visit to FSU. Now I want to travel all over Europe and beyond. Olga is happy now just seeing the USA!

On the personal level...and being strictly subjective, I simply prefer the looks of Eastern European women over Latinas. Nothing racist here, just a personal choice, and I know other's choices are different and Vive La Differance! Tall, slender, light complexion, blue eyes, it is just what I prefer, though I am more a brunette guy and Ukraine is rich in blue eyed brunettes...go figure.
Understood and accepted, si man. I shall attempt to attach a very recent foto (Spanish spelling) of Mrs. T-B. here, see man:

Carino--prettyfoto1--09-04-12.jpg

And that's without makeup, I think, or much of it. By the way, little Mini-Bone looks just like his mommy (male version, of course), gee man.

We have ongoing dialogues about my (completely imaginary) harem of 6 blondes, si man.

To test my foto-posting prowess (ha), here is a foto of Mini-Bone, which I can't figure out how to rotate 90 degrees, but it's good for all of us to hear our neck vertebrae crack, ouch man. He's 20 months old now but was 5 months old in this foto, which remains my favorite of many good ones, gee man.

I meant what do they think about marrying foriegners generally. What is the consensus on adoption?

Adoption by foreigners is viewed negatively because there have been high profile cases where Russian kids were adopted by American families and things went very wrong.

I think with the political situation now, dating/marrying foreigners is seen positively because there is more opportunity in Europe and the US.
