Hi VisaJourney,

This is my first time posting and I am not sure if I am posting at the right section or not. We have a bit of an issue. My fiancee that I am petitioning came from a culture that does not have Surname/last name. Here is our situation: for example, Jane John Doe Smith, when we filed the i-129f, I entered Jane - First name, John - Middle, and Doe Smith - Last name. My fiancee now prefer to have her last name to just be Smith and move the Doe to Middle. So it will be Jane - First, John Doe - Middle, Smith - Last. Is it possible to contact NVC or the Embassy to request for the change? I also researched into the legal name change in US, but we are hoping to avoid that hassle if possible.

On another matter, can anyone confirm or know that if we do the legal name change in US. Does my fiancee have to show the decree to every single thing/time she write her name down on application, mailing list, or something? (this exclude driver's license, passport, and other official documents) In another word, after you show the decree once to change the official documents, does she need to carry it with her to keep on showing it every time she put down the prefer name above?

Thank You

She cannot have her name changed while the ball in rolling. Her name should have been put, in all the forms, as it shows in her passport.

Thank for the reply. Her passport does not contain the "First, Middle, Last" name format. It just show her full name. When we were filling the petition, we were confused as to which to put as the last name.
