Howdy to all I am brand new here..Great site..I have the following question.. I am assisting a friend ( Married to my cousin) in the process in immigrating his family.. I am now in the process of filling out the I-864 form.. My question is, I am not a sponsor just filling assisting them.. My question is which form do I file?? I-864 or I-864E etc..etc. He live in the states but is non English speaking.. I did call the NVC and they would not help..Reason given "these are legal documents".. Any input would be greatly appreciated.. Cheers.......

BTW... Applicant is not a citizen but a legal resident.

1-864 affidavit of support, 1-864a for the sponser,

Thx to both.. The "sponsor" would be the person applying (The husband) and not me correct??.. As I am just filling out the forms.. So what you are saying is that there are 2 forms ( I-864 & I-864A) that need to be filled out??..

First question on I-864 is "I.............the sponsor" Sponsor being the husband correct??.. I just want to make sure all paper work is done correctly..

The petitioner will be the sponsor for the family members immigrating. The sponsor completes the I-864.

You, the preparer, complete part 9 on the last page of the form.

The I-864 instructions are fairly thorough. The example form here on VJ can also be helpful.

The form 864A is used by a qualifying family member if the sponsor's income does not meet the requirements.
