I recently got my US Citizenship, and i wanna petition my mother to come here in America. I don't make so much money in the past few months and i don't have a full time job yet. I think my average earning is less than $25,000 a year. I don't pay rent because my mother-in law owns the apartment. I don't know if my husband will help me since he do not want my Mom to be here in America but i will still do it anyway. I don't have Family here so, i want my Mom. My mom can still work and she is strong. If she come here, she will not depend on any government help.

Can anybody help me? I don't do food stamp or anything that depend on the government. I'm getting unemployment but not very much.

Any help i can get, i will really appreciate. Thanks.

Your income must meet the requirement for your household plus the intending immigrant. Use the form I-864P to learn what the income level must be.

If you are getting unemployment, then you don't have a job and your current income is zero. Your income from jobs you no longer have will not count in the I-864.

You will need a Joint Sponsor or Household Member who meets the 125% poverty line to petition for your mother.
