Raw Deal by ACRRA Embassy

Folks, it's very obvious to me that the Accra embassy is now handing some of us raw deal. I got my case completed three months ago. That is 30 days past the 80 day holding limit. For the past two months, I've been tracking DHL packages to all the African nations. for the past 60 days or so, not a single CR1/IR1 DHL packet to the Accra embassy. Whereas the other countries have been receiving at least two cases per month with Lagos receiving an average of 4 cases.

Surprisingly, Accra leads in the NIV cases because they get to collect the visa issuance fees and not the Dept. of State. See how money makes people corrupt? This is pure insanity at the embassy in Accra. I've sent my findings to the Dept. of State and they better do something about it. This nonsense must stop immediately!

Oh King Medusa,

I am so sorry that the Accra Embassy is making you wait so long for an cr-1 interview..That is absolutely terrible... The little I time I have had dealing with this embassy has been nothing short of a headache...

It is a raw deal. I wrote a brief letter to the Chief Consul describing some of the problems I've seen so far and the unusually long wait time. I wonder if that arrest of 20 Ghanaians in the sham marriages in the US a couple of months ago has made them backed up because of overhauling their procedures? (Pure guess on my part, but it could be....)

The real issue is, the fee for IR1/CR1 IV is paid straight to the Dept. of State here in America and the embassy doesn't get a cent but NIV visas are issued at the discretion of the embassy and the fees are paid to the posts so they're more interested in the cash they can get than the quality of service for the citizens.

This logic and rationale is total nonsense.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

I wouldnt even engage with discourse with desertfox on any level. he enjoys dropping by this forum every now and then and making comments about things he knows little of and embassies that he's never had to deal with. as they say in ghana, "don't mind him at allllll"

I am fairly new to Visa Journey and I am scared to death about the Embassy in Ghana. I am learning so much about all the ins and outs of this whole process. IF you are getting the raw deal now, what should I expect when my K1 is approved and my fiance finds himself in some mess like this? Should I be contacting my congressional office now? I live in Illinois and I have friends who work for Barack Obama's office, so if I must, I will start calling his office now. I am sorry that you are having such a hard time. Corruption, corrupts the mind as well.

Unless you currently have a problem I would not advice to call anyone.

Save it for when you have a real problem.

Or call your friends and get advice on how to get the form for an

inquiry so you will be ready to go into action when needed.

But why bother them now without an issue ?

AngelaF, you shouldn't have to start calling congressmen now, but having that option if problems come up will be good.

I would use all of the advice and stories to help build yourself a solid case and make sure you don't fall into any traps other people have unwittingly fallen into. If you are in the U.S. now awaiting your NOA2, you could work on things like the I-134 sponsor stuff, making sure you have clear evidence of your relationship (printable phone call records, letters, emails), and getting all official documents ready (especially things that need to be ordered from government offices like birth certs, divorce decrees, etc.).

You will probably have to face the 6 month wait after your fiance receives the appointment letter, so maybe plan a trip to Ghana. 2007 is the golden jubilee year, so it would be a good time to visit! :)

nonsense on your part thinking that its because of money and revenue to the embassy....the embassy is part of the state department.

You have no moral justification to condemn hard facts. May be, it does not happen in Spain. I'll not stoop that low to your level.:angry::angry:
