Hi, everyone

I am so stressed about this situation I am in right now, I am on disability and my income does not meet the requirement. What do I do, I thought I had family and friends but now I am alone. I love my husband so much and we just can't wait to be together, I am only in the united states because I need to be with my doctors. Over all I would just have to give up and go to my husband even though it might in danger my health, I can't stop crying every day and worried. I don't know what to do. Some one help me! :innocent::crying:

That is tough but meeting the income requirements I believe is necessary. See if you can get another sponsor...

You need to take a step back and look at why your family and friend may not want to be on the financial hook for you and your husband.

The I-864 Joint Sponsorship is not a piece of paper. It is a financial commitment to your husband. If your husband receives a forbidden benefit, your family and friends would be responsible. If your husband becomes ill and receives $100,000 of regular Medicaid, your I-864 Joint Sponsor would be responsible for paying that.

I have kids. My kids are the most important people in my life. I would never put them at risk by signing an I-864 for my sister's husband who is immigrating from a high fraud country.

Even if your husband divorces you, your I-864 Joint Sponsor would still be on the hook.

Why would anyone put his or her family at risk for your husband?

You can't say that you don't have family and friends just because they are not willing to put their families at risk for you. That's unfair.

Would you ever ask your family and friends to cosign an unlimited loan for your husband?

If you can't meet the financial requirement of the I-864, then you cannot petition for your husband.

Sorry.

All I can say is Thank You for coming here and just dumping so much before even really realizing what I have been going through! I have a chronic illness, I have two damaged kidneys and I have been through chemotherapy for 6 months before I got married. I have been suffering for so long and I thank God for bring my husband to me and softening my heart. I had 1500mg of water drained out of my heart just last year and then on top of that my lungs kept filling up with water, continuously drained 8x and now one lung is glued to my ribs. I will bring my husband to the States and we will live happy ever after because he is worth it! and I am sorry if things don't work out for you, half of the things I was talking about were more personal I just didn't put them out there for you to understand! Good Luck and God Bless You! :wow:

OP need some encouragement for God sake! Why pull her down? Even Jesus advices us to rejoice with those are rejoicing and mourn with those who are nourning... The whole essence of life is service to humanity... That is called, love... God will make a way for you sister... But you can pause for a moment and take a deep breathe first, then re-examine your whole situation again... Never forget to pray for God's will to be done in this matter... It's well with your soul

The bible actually is advising against co-signing a loan and an Affidavit of Support is some form of loan.

Proverbs 22:26-27

Be not one of those who give pledges, who put up security for debts. If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you?

However, the bible also says this:

James 5:16

.....The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

To the OP:

There's no way to waive the Affidavit of Support. If you have assets you may use that in your affidavit of support. Your husband's assets may also be included. Please see this link: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3183.html#22

Take a look at your relationship through your friends and families. This is like a prep to the interview itself. You must overcome whatecer red flags they see when you present your request. If you are older, why is it that you will stay as a couple. If he is also unlikely to make much money then why will you not resort to public aide. You can't just expect someone to risk if it doesn't seem that you have things in control.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I am sorry that the OP is having so much trouble, however given the OP's medical condition, it is understandable with the requirements of sponsorship that family members and friends are reluctant to sponsor the spouse especially if they too have a family to support. Any defaults such as government assistance, medical bills and such would add a greater strain on their finances and their family when the OP's spouse isn't their own. It is a difficult position to say the least. I wish her luck in her journey, but I even as a person sponsoring my husband ( :) ) to come here can understand the views of her family and friends.
