Joe Scarborough: ‘Mitt Romney is in trouble’

(video)

“I mean, Mitt Romney is in trouble. You said what I felt on Saturday night, after reading this Politico article and a lot of other articles — that this is a moment where you can look back and say, ‘Alright, you know what? They had to change paths at this point, or else they couldn’t have won.’ And I think we are there. After the conventions on Labor Day, after Labor Day, they have to start being aggressive, and they have to start being specific, and they have to start telling Americans where they’re going to take this country. They’re going to have to jolt people with facts.”

Scarborough referenced the 1975 campaign of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the 1976 campaign of former President Ronald Reagan, where both offered specifics during their successful campaigns.

“The Romney people think that they can run a Bob Dole campaign, a John McCain campaign, a Gerald Ford campaign and win,” he continued. “That doesn’t happen. Republicans do not win by running these types of campaigns. And for those idiots out there saying that I’m a RINO or I’m not a conservative because I’m actually telling them we will lose if you don’t start running as a conservative: If you don’t start telling people what you believe — if you really do, in fact, believe in anything, and if you don’t start telling people, ‘Yes, these are the tax exemptions we’re going to take care of. Yes, this is how seniors who are going to be turning, you know, 65 in 15 years, this is how they’re going to be paying more. This is how we’re going to have to trim benefits. This is how we’re going to have to trim benefits on Social Security. These are the wars we can no longer fight. These are the weapons systems we can no longer afford.’”

Scarborough concluded, “Unless you have somebody that’s willing to do that, Romney’s going to lose.”

You made your bed over at GE, so I guess you are stuck doing a morning show nobody watches, well, nobody that matters.

Where are all those folks that were saying, "I could vote for Romney if he was nominated"?

The are the same ones here trashing him now. Funny how that works. The party listens to those folks, so they don't pick a hardliner, opting instead for somebody that would appeal to folks on the left. And when they find one the left says they would love to vote for, as soon as he wins the nomination, they run back to Obama.

Romney is just another Massachusetts liberal. The left should be happy, because even if they lose, they win. Joe is just about 6 months too late...oh, wait a minute...he was the guy pushing Romney.

Well played, my liberal friends, well played.

That was a different Romney, wasn't it? Flip Romney, if you will. The GOP nominated flop Romney. He's not as attractive to normal people. See, that's Mitt's issue. If he wanted to be electable, he wouldn't have gotten the nomination. In order to get the nomination, he had to become unelectable. It's a catch 22. You can relax, though. If any of the other clowns that ever seemed to have a shot at it had gotten the nomination, there wouldn't even be a contest right now.

How can I relax? I haven't been happy with the choices offered since I first started voting in 1974.

Ha! Ha! Eastwood 2016.

Love Eastwood as an actor. Disagree with his politics.

When I see an old guy talking to inanimate objects near the local church's soup kitchen, I know he is crazy and should be avoided at all cost. Is there a difference when an old guy talks to a chair at the RNC convention? Different guy, different inanimate object, and all the same craziness.

I wonder if the chair talked back? Oh, yeah it did.

Ha! Ha!

Nice try Clint. Too bad, your speech sucked.
