In a letter to the state’s attorney general and the state prosecutor, the chair of the Maryland Democratic Party wrote that Rosen has been registered to vote in both Florida and Maryland since at least 2006. Yvette Lewis, the party chair, noted in the letter that Rosen voted in the 2006 general election in both Florida and Maryland. Lewis also wrote that Rosen voted in the 2008 presidential primaries in both Florida and Maryland.

It is "in person" voter fraud only if this person voted "in person" in both states or if she voted in person in one of the two after having cast an absentee ballot in the other. Interestingly, no voter ID law would prevent any such double voting. Of course, none of these laws were actually passed to prevent any voter fraud in the first place.

So is your kid voting this year?

What law can we pass in conjunction with voter photo ID bills to eliminate the potential for voting abuses among absentee ballots? Requirement to show a photo ID, before ever being issued a voter card? Many of us are married to spouses who come from countries where a photo ID is req'd to vote, most of those countries are not being accused of being racist for those photo ID's.

I'd go out on a limb and say that these countries also do not have a history of voter suppression based on race as this country sadly does. That might explain why certain actions raise flags here while not doing that in other places. But that's really not the issue.

The issue is that all of a sudden, we are told that in person voter fraud is an urgent issue that requires urgent action. And yet, there is no evidence that it actually is an urgent issue. Firstly, there isn't much of any voter fraud to begin with. Of the voter fraud that exists, most is not in person voter fraud. Yet here we're passing laws that not only address an issue that is virtually non-existent but that go further and restrict early voting hours, for example. These early voting restrictions target certain time frames where certain voter profiles tend to cast their ballots. All of this impacts a certain population of voters which tend to vote a certain way. They tend to vote in a way that does not benefit the very party that has been busy passing all these laws. And none of this addresses whatever voter fraud may exist in any meaningful way.

So one has to wonder what the actual goal here is. Well, one doesn't really have to wonder. It's quite obvious what this is really about. Fixing elections.
