Hi everyone,

We are just starting the K1 procedure and as I was going through all the different requirements, I fell upon the I-314 form which will need to be produced once the I-129F is approved.

The problem is that as of today, my fiancee (who is the american citizen) is a student in my country (France). She left her job in the US to follow me for the past year and half as my student visa in the US expired. Her bank accounts (and so are mine) are well provided for so the A part of the Supporting evidence is ok, but as for the B (employment), C (self employed) or D (bonds), she doesn't have any.

From personal experiences, did people manage to bring people over to the US even though the american citizen had no actual income but just a wealthy patrimony.

Thanks for your future advices

Does she have residency in France? Have you looked into DCF? It would require you to be married though. She would also have to look at the US domicile issue.

Have a read of the guides section at the top of the page. You can read of DCF HERE

Thank you aussiewench for such a quick reply.

We are not yet married. We got engaged last month and are planning a wedding in June of next year in the US thus the application for a K1 visa.

However, I read that the immigrant fiance (me) can be sponsored by my fiancee and/or another person (who would qualify as a co-sponsor). Are these informations correct ? If so, then my fiancee mother would be able to do so.

You may still like to look into DCF if your fiance qualifes with the residence requirement. Yes you need to be married, but you could have a quickie marriage in order to file directly with the consulate for the immigrant visa and then have a big wedding later as planned.

To answer your question on the I-134, yes you can have someone else sponsor your fiance if you do not meet the poverty guidelines. Read up on the many threads in the Foreign Embassy forum that discuss the I-134 as well as the pinned thread.
