My fiancé's medical exam is in the morning and I'm feeling nervous for him! Any tips or suggestions from anyone in Jamaica who has been there/done that? I'm sending him$225 US (about 19,000 JA). Thanks!

Not sure if it's true or nor, or even if it's applicable to him, but I've read that admitting to use of marijuana carries a 1 year ban.

My fiancé had his medical exam on Aug 23rd. He spent about 7 hours there. They did a physical exam, x-ray, a blood test, a vision test, and asked some questions. He did his vaccinations prior to the medical exam, so he brought his vaccination record with him. My fiancé didn’t have any of his vaccination records from the past, so we just had him do all of the required shots a head of time, which was about $200 USD. They said he didn’t need anymore vaccinations at the exam, so they just charged him $9900 JMD for the medical exam. They let him know right away that he passed the medical exam and told him to come 3 days prior to the interview to pick up his medical records to bring to the interview. What are you nervous about? Do you have any specific questions? The cost of the exam will totally depend on how many vaccinations he needs, if any.

This is about right. Had mine last Monday. I was there for about 7hrs as well. The amount it will cost depends on the amount of vaccines he'll need after paying the registration fee. I needed three vaccines, one in two doses. I'll have to get the other dose in 4-8 weeks. They told me that all my test looked great, which I took as me passing the medical. There is really nothing to worry about if your fiancee is healthy and not on drugs.

Thanks everyone- his exam is at Medical Associates Hospital. He doesn't have a specific appointment time-he was told to be there between 730 and 130. I thought people are supposed to be given a specific time but he says he plans on being there earlier rather than later. He was told over the phone to have 17,000 JA on him, but how did the person he spoke with know how much, when she hasn't seen his immunization card? My fiancé is pretty healthy and has never taken drugs but I worry about him being organized/prepared. Again, thanks for all the responses! :)

My fiancé went to Andrew’s Memorial Hospital. Each facility might work a little bit differently. But he was told to come in and register between 10-11am. Then the appts were on a first come, first serve basis after registration. They schedule a bunch of people at the same time and do all of the visa people at one time. The medical exam fee is $9900 JMD. When I scheduled the appt for my fiancé, she didn’t tell me an amount for him to bring. She just told me how much the exam fee is and to bring extra in case he needs vaccinations. I had him fill out the medical history form and bring that with to the appt. To be on the safe side, I would have him be there by 730am then. The amount she quoted might just be an estimate in case he needs vaccinations, but I'm not sure how she came up with that figure.

Ok I'll tell him to try to be there at 730 if at all possible. Just sent him 22,000JA. Yikes! Lol we will have money to spare again someday hahaha. Thanks everybody!

Just be prepare to kill the entire day there. its a long process. eat before going and be honest with the doctor regarding smoking pot if the doctor ask (if he does in fact smoke) they will find out everything through the blood test. wishing you and your fiancee all the best and tell him NOT to forget the apt letter, passport and immunization card and something to keep his mind occupied.
