Welcome. We are also in our 40's. My hubby is Scottish and I am the USC. It took about 7 months from the wedding until he had the visa in hand to move here. We did the CR1 route in 2009 and he arrived in 2010. We went through Calif Svc center for the CR1. We live near Boston so it was supposed to be VT but they were backed up and we were transferred. We just got the 10 year GC approval.

It's tough being apart. We talked every day but it was hard. We tried to get together about every 8 weeks even of just for a weekend. It was tough but so worth it! Our original plan was for me to move to UK but after several visits he decided he liked the sunshine and wanted to love here instead. We go back a couple times a year and wish we could go more often.

Where will you be living in the US and out of curiosity where in the UK are you from?

Hey there, thanks for your post!! :) Am so glad your process was a shorter one compared to others. Like I've mentioned before reading others experiences that are positive sure does help you stay focused.

My husband is in Kentucky and I am in Hertfordshire. We can't get together as often as we'd like due to our circumstances but Skype helps ALOT!! My husband would be happy to move to the US but has joint custody of his son and as I don't have any children it's easier for me to relocate. To be honest I don't care where we live as long as we are a family and in the same place, lol!!

Hi Sarah and Todd,

We are in a similar position to you, I am a UK citizen, desperately missing my husband who lives near Dallas. As he would point out he is in his 40s too, and I am now fairly well established in my 50s :D Do you have plans to be together soon? We got married in July, 2 months ago exactly, and I came home in the afternoon of our wedding day. I am fortunate that he will be here in 12 days time and we will have a mini honeymoon then! I am in Lancashire, but we will be visiting Devon so that he can finally meet his sister in law. We filed our I-130 at the end of August, it got sent to CSC (that was good news) but then got transferred to the NBC in Missouri, and since they don't normally process these cases the site gives no indication of processing times. We are trying very hard to be patient, it is so difficult though!

Hope you soon get your NOA2 :)

Welcome! I think you will find this place to be a lifesaver throughout the process.

My husband and I are in our 40s, both married for the first time in January 2011. I stayed here for my 90 days after the wedding, leaving in April 2011. We didn't see each other again until I came over for his interview two weeks ago. It's hard, but you can get through it! And you will be so glad when you have it behind you. We had a few minor hiccups that added a week or two to our wait, but other than that, it all went smoothly. As overwhelming as all this is, you will get the hang of it before you know it.

Read the FAQs, keep an eye on the threads, keep up with your timeline, get your paperwork together promptly, stay proactive and on top of your file by calling/emailing/checking online when you can--these are the things that helped us get through it all. I really can't say enough good about this site. Folks here are understanding, and many are very well-versed in the visa process. You can get some great advice here, as well as plenty of support.

Best of luck to you, hang in there! You will reach your goal, and you will learn more about visas than you ever wanted to know :)

Hi

It seems like many August filers had their cases transferred to the USCIS office at the National Benefits Centre in Missouri, fingers crossed that they work quickly there.

Hoping I get given bucket loads of patience for Christmas this year if they don't!!
