Hello Everyone,

We had our traditional wedding few weeks ago in my country Algeria, and now having our US wedding in November.

I did the invitation and paper work for my parents for there visa, they went to the enbassy had there interview.

The consular told my mother that she is approved her visa, with no issues, but for my father its an other story, that they will approve him only after a backgroud check ( to make sure he his who is ), what sound for me very strange, since they didnt a background check on me for my fiance visa. and that they have all my information.

they also told my parenst that this can take between 6 weeks ( they can meke it to the wedding)to 10 weeks..( they will not mak eit if it takes that longer).

im very fustrated about this situation ,i never expected to have this kind of issue, knowing that its only a tourist visa and usually the decision is made right away.

anyone out there that had the same kind of situation? and if yes, how you guys dealed with it?

Thanks

They definitely did a background check on both the K1 petitioner and beneficiary. That's why all the biographical information was submitted.

As you are aware visa applicants from MENA countries, especially men, face extra scrutiny.

Best of luck.
