Lot's of countries offer medical tourism and it is actually really affordable and good quality.

I maybe wouldn't go to South America but I would definitely look elsewhere if my dental care was going to cost $9000 in the US.

If I was getting something free I might expect less also.

Nothing is free about medicare! You of all people should recognize that. Everyone I know is very aware that they have been paying in all these years and expect to see it is there for them when they reach 65!! :bonk:

Well, you could change that. Vote for Mitt and you will have paid in all your life and get bupkus when you retire. Some fat cats are going to make out like bandits, though.

I am over 55. I will do just fine with that free healthcare if the Ryan plan goes through, probably better than what Nancy and Harry agreed to and what Barry signed into law. And as long as the wife is working and we keep the HMO plan we have, I won't even notice any difference between now and then, and probably after, no matter who wins.

Guess I need to read the fine print from time to time, eh?

Something that you pay for your entire working life isn't exactly free, is it?

Most folks don't pay for medicaid there entire life .

1) You made that remark responding to a post discussing Medicare. If you were wanting to talk about Medicaid, then you should say so.

2) Your statement is otherwise correct. However, it is correct only because roughly half of Medicaid recipients are children. Children don't have much of an opinion as to the ease of access to doctors for Medicaid recipients or the quality of the doctors that participate in the system. That leaves the non-children beneficiaries. Interestingly, aside from children - who obviously haven't paid into anything yet - the vast majority of the remaining Medicaid recipients are old folk in nursing homes. I would think that these people have paid taxes all their working lives and are not getting some kind of a free ride.

I get it. Republicans want to push grandma off the cliff. ** the old geezers that can't take care of themselves. If that is what the party stands for, then just come out and say it. And do it proudly.

Good one. You know anytime conservatives want to reign in spending we are wanting to starve children, kill gays, etc etc

Republicans want to reign in spending?

You guys want to spend an extra $2 trillion on an already overblown defense budget. Get to some sane proposal on that and then get back to me about reigning in spending, okay?

The 'pro-life' party wants to severely curtail healthcare for children, the elderly and the disabled in order to be able to spend more on weapons to kill people!!

Who has added 5 tril to the debt in 3.5 years. Let me rephrase that. What I should have said was true fiscal conservatives not Republicans.
