As much as I hate to say it I tend to agree with you, except for the part about "administered by the government". To me that means "run as efficiently as SSA or USCIS"

Maybe we can subcontract it out to Canada as they have some experience with this issue. LOL

How about "run as efficiently as Medicare"? It's not like we don't have any experience with running an efficient health insurance system.

None yet. I am too young. I have, however, met people that do and they seemed to be happy with it. It's a very popular program in this country so it must do something right. I have had experience with both government run and heavily regulated private, not-for-profit insurance schemes and found both to be absolutely superior to the fragmented private insurance system in the US that I have had the displeasure to deal with for the last decade and a half.

My dentist is pretty old school. Most of his equipment is from the 70's & 80's that still work just fine. He doesn't believe in buying state of the art equipment and pass down the costs to his patients. He charges $6 for an Xray, $85 for an hour of cleaning & $85-$100 for extracting wisdom teeth. He can keep his costs low by hiring 2 part time hygienists who also work the front desk. It is also pretty common for him to answer the phone while digging in my mouth  Also, he refuses to deal with insurance companies which is also another reason he can keep the cost so low.

He was the only option I had while I was in college since I was broke most of the time and didn't have dental insurance, but I would never ever go to another dentist even though I make decent money now. I hope he never retires.

Well there you go. That is the way the old man practiced medicine, back when health care was affordable. Back before we came up with managed care to control expenses.

Oh my. Your joking right. Good luck finding a decent doctor that will take it ?

You should ask them that when the economy collapses. It will all be gone! The government dependents will have voted themselves right off a cliff.

Beggars can't be choosers. We need to either raise the retirement age, or find ways for old people to die quicker. Barry and Nancy and Harry seem to prefer the latter.

How bout we eliminate medicaid and when one of the little sponges comes in who "says" they can't pay we make them do grounds keeping, janitorial, mail delivery, litter control, and farm labor? Until their bill is paid kinda like houses for the homeless.

How about a bath, a haircut, and a new toothbrush?

 that would be the best place to start.

You are limited to a network of doctors with any PPO plan or with any HMO plan. That whole bunk that not every doctor will accept you when you're on Medicare. Same thing happens to anyone on any insurance private plan.

True that but the selection of Medicaid docs is very limited and usually are the bottom tear Docs in a town. My PPO (Blue Cross) is taken by almost all doctors in my area. The ones that don't usually don't because they were kicked out.

economically challenged democratic party base, thru no fault of their own.

Only if they vote for this Romney clown. Otherwise, we stand a pretty good chance that the economy will continue to improve.

Improve ??? It is worse than it was when Obamer took over. Your confused.... Yea yea I know we added some jobs, but we lot a lot more. That figure you keep trotting out is like saying I won 2K in Vegas then forgetting to mention you then lost 22K.

WOW stop making sense... You mean make people do something to recieve a service if they are able... OMG you war monger and hater LOL.

Remember a while back when they tried to make the public housing residents cut the grass, paint, etc etc. The screamed racism and filed a court action.

I asked about Medicare vs medicaid because you made the not old enough comment. Medicare is for old folks.

Right. Since I answered this question...

How much experience have you personally had with medicare?

...my "not old enough" comment made perfect sense. That would have been different had I responded to whether or not I have had experience with Medicaid. You know, hypothetically speaking. But that wasn't the actual question I responded to so I thought it would be prudent not to answer the hypothetical question that wasn't actually asked. Bad judgement on my part?
