Is 8 months waiting for NOA2 too long? (WAC)

Married in August 2011, filed I-130 for both my wife and my daughter the I-130 petition in January 18, 2012. Received NOA1 1/19/12. Since then the status is keeping on "Initial Review"

I see on the forum, that other people receive the NOA2 within 5 months, so it drives all of us crazy that it is 8 months now that nothing happened. Any other wait that long?

Yup - start with a SERVICE REQUEST with an ISO on Monday (don't get it with the CSR, the first person that answers the phone)

You may have missed some postal mail.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Just called them, they told me to give me a response within 15 days. I have a hunch. Since I filed as a permanent resident initially, then became a USC in 3/12 afterwards and we reported the status change.

Time line for USC is 5 months, for PR is 9+ months. I believe they did not move my case into the USC queue and left in the PR queue which is much slower.

aha !

Call back again, get an ISO, ask the ISO to review the casefile as stored in the computer,

and inquire if yer USCitizenship stuff actually made it into the casefile.

Don't waste time with a CSR, they not have the right computer access.

ISO - http://www.dhs.gov/files/publications/gc_1305658440339.shtm

If it's not set, an ISO can initiate the process to change your status to being a USCitizen, almost in real time - He/She might ask you to fax something, or email something - so keep yer ears open for their process.

Good Luck !

  • 3 weeks later...

Update on this case. After I called on September 10, I received a letter int the mail, stating that the petition has now been upgraded to reflect my naturalization status. Yay!!.

I hope things go now quicker.

so, no 2nd ISO telephone call back on the 10th. OK - got it .

For this week, call in again, get an ISO and ask for a detailed review of the casefile status (emphasis on status)

as

yer petitioner status has changed.

Good Luck !
