My son just received his green card

BUT there is a 10 year expiration date. How is it he received this? I thought it would be for two years just like mine? So how is it that he got a ten year GC? Does anyone know when he can apply for his citizenship now?

May 24, 2010 - I-130 Sent to USCIS
Oct 20, 2010 - : I-130 NOA2 APPROVED..GOD IS GOOD!!!!! smile.png
Oct 26, 2010 : NVC Received

Jan 24, 2011 - Medical exam
Feb 24, 2011 - Passed, welcome to USA

June 12th, USA citizen - Oath Ceremony...all done here!!

He could become a USC in 5 years.

Your son got a 10 years card because you have been married for more than 2 years.

If the foreign spouse has been married to the US citizen for 2 years, then a 10 years green card is issued. You got a 2 years conditional green card because you had not been married for 2 years when you got it. Your son got a 10 years green card because you have been married for more than 2 years.

Your son needs to be a green card holder for 5 years before he can apply for US citizenship.
