Hi all,

Just want to check in with you about my situation. I can in USA in 2009 on J-1 (without 2 yr rule) I met my husband 7 months in. I changed my status from J-1 to F-1 in april 2011 and got engaged in december. We had wedding in August 2012 how easy it is to Adjust from F-1 status to green card is there any suspicions that the change of status was because I was intending to get married? (witch isnt true).I got married a year after my status got change but I did move in with my husband from another state when my status was changed. However engagement we can prove did not happened until december 2011 half year through my new status.

I don't see why they would be concerned of your change of status. You've remained in status for the whole time you've been in the US, which is a good thing. You met someone, fell in love, got engaged and married, and now want to adjust status. You didn't originally obtain nor enter with a non-immigrant visa for the purpose of filing for AOS. I wouldn't worry about that, just file the AOS paperwork and you'll most likely be just fine and find yourself with a greencard in less than 6 months from now.

My situation is very similar to yours. i also arrived in 2009 on a J1, changed to F1 in October 2011 and am now planning on getting married in Nov and moving to another state to live with my husband and file AOS. I was told that since I have been here so long already, it actually makes things a little easier. I had my fiance even before I came here, but there has never been any intentions of getting married until he actually proposed to me, whic was this year after being together for over 4 years at the time. I doubt they will claim you or I had intentions, since if we wanted to get married, we could have done it a long time ago. So no worries :)
