Traveling On Opt (Visa Expires On 31St Dec)

Guys,

I am working full time and planning to go to my country on Nov 1st and come back on 24th Nov. I have valid OPT until July next year, but my visa is going to expire on Dec 31. Is there any risk to travel?? please suggest..

Also I have 3 options for port of entry JFK, Dallas and Chicago. Please suggest the risk free option.

Yes, I have a valid OPT i-20 till July 2013.

if you travel there is always the risk that you cannot enter the country again. but just because your visa expires in a

couple of weeks is not a particular reason to deny entry. just make sure your travel signature on the I-20 is not

older than 6 month and that you bring your EAD card and letter from employer.

the airline will not allow you to take the flight if your visa is not valid.

the visa has nothing to do with the admission to the USA. the visa is a document that allows you to reach the POE, after that the ICE will look at your other document and grants you the admission. so, don't think to travel

Your visa does not count what is important is to have:

Valid passport

I-20

Letter from your employer

Pay checks proofs are nice.

You re good to go in theory , if I were you if you can postpone the travel you should do that , traveling while on OPT is not recommended there is always a risk
