So my fiance (Chilean citizen - beneficiary) was fire today. He has worked at that company for 6 years and they overheard us talking yesterday about how he was coming to NY. I was talking to him about when roughly the interview will be and how we should go see his family before he leaves so we can say goodbye (they live far away). His manager overheard him told the boss and they fired him. He was supposed to collect a sort of pension for being fired a weeks pay for every year he's worked so he should be collecting 6 weeks pay but the company is filing for bankruptcy in December so they aren't paying anyone and firing everyone if they do any little thing wrong. Does this affect our visa at all? I know he technically doesn't need a job since I will be sponsoring him but I just wanted to make sure this won't affect the visa if he cannot find a job.

Thanks! :)

They don't look at the non-US citizen finances. What matter is that you (or a co-ponsor), US citizen, has money to sponsor your fiancé so he won't become a public charge because of you. :)

Thanks guys! I know my job is the important one since I have to sponsor my fiance I was just wondering if it affects him negatively during the interview. I was nervous that it would raise a red flag or something. Thank you guys for all your comments. :)

Well when I say overheard I should've said was listening in on our private phone call. I called my fiance at his office on his lunch break and his manager clicked in the hear what we were talking about. But its all for the better since he was going to lose this job anyway due to them going bankrupt. He already has another option with a friend who know his situation plus he gets paid more. I guess everything always works out in the end. :)
