On the question of the applicant's last 5 years of residence... Is that to include time spent on a tourist visa in another country or where you consider home? Say for example, my home is in California but I spent 4 months on a tourist visa in Nepal. Do I include the 4 months in Nepal?

Residence is the place you call home or will return to. This is just like a college student going to a different state for school, but returning at breaks to his/she home or residence. As you describe it, you were on a tourist visa or just visiting. I would not list this as your residence remained in California. It would be a little greyer if you were in Nepal working, but again if you knew the work was temporary and still had a place in California I would still say your residence was in California. My $0.02 worth.

Hope this helps,

Dave
