I also believe that walk-in biometric will speed up the process. Look at my timeline and you will see:

9-11-2012: mailed the package I130 & I485

9-25-2012 : walk-in biometric ( my actual appointment is Oct 12, 2012)

10-14-2012: received mail for the interview, which is Nov 14, 2012

11-14-2012: Interview

Hi all,

An update came via text today to our I-485 (the others seem untouched). We have an interview date, and here's the relevant part of the update:

"On October 19, 2012, we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview for November 26, 2012, at NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER."

Could someone shed some light on this? We're in NYC, so shouldn't the "at..." reflect a local field office or something? Isn't the NBC in..Missouri? Insight appreciated!

Thanks, you two responders. That's a *big* relief since we were quite unsure as to why the online update said "...at NBC" which is all the way over in Missouri. Yes, we're in Queens. I'll post an update once we receive the letter.

I'm still really surprised that the interview notice arrived this quickly. There has been no movement on my EAD or the I-130 whatsoever. I figured the EAD might precede the interview date.

Hey all,

After the night's surprise, a few questions: does this mean we may still receive an RFE? Or are we likely in the clear? Also, since I haven't seen any update regarding the EAD, and the interview is just about a month away, is it even likely that they'll bother with an EAD? Or will I just go to GC directly?

Apologies if any of these are naive.

It's likely that you are in the clear with the rfe although there are some people who have gotten it at the interview. Yes the ead will still come. I received my ead in the mail last Monday and my interview was that Thursday 3 days later.

Your I-130 won't change until after your interview

I also believe that walk-in biometric will speed up the process. Look at my timeline and you will see:

9-11-2012: mailed the package I130 & I485

9-25-2012 : walk-in biometric ( my actual appointment is Oct 12, 2012)

10-14-2012: received mail for the interview, which is Nov 14, 2012

11-14-2012: Interview

It said on our Biometrics appointment letter that he is not allowed to do it any earlier than the date and time on the letter. Did yours also say this? It looks like it's kind of a hit or miss with most in regards to walking in early, meaning it helps some people, but others seem to wait just as long as if they would have waited... Not sure what to do. My husband's appointment is one week from tomorrow. I should note that we're praying for AP so that we can go back to Denmark for Christmas, so anything to help speed of the process I guess might be worth it.

I wanted to do an early walk-in, but was very concerned about whether I would be allowed to do so. I didn't want to take a day off work to try to do a walk-in only to be rejected and have to take another day off for the actual date so I just waited for my appointment date.

if yours is a week from now, just wait.

We'll be interviewing at the Holtsville location, it turns out. The letter arrived yesterday.

Naturally, we'll be preparing ourselves thoroughly. So far, no indication that we might be hit with an RFE, but there's still a month to go. We will be opening a joint account--chiefly for payment of cell bills and other small joint expenses--this week or so. So that's something we will have by way of additional evidence. It seems I should expect to be asked all of the Y/N questions on the I-485. Anything else we might want to pay attention to?

you should of have that evidence even before sending the package... would it nt be too silly doing that while your in the middle of the process?? immigration would not see that as a good sign.

I agree with mezamo. that looks sketchy, like you opened the joint account just for immigration.
