Hi all-

This is my first post on here. I've been lurking on this website for for weeks gathering information and insight, which has been extremely helpful! Thought I would finally introduce myself and say hello.

My husband is a Danish national. We met 3.5 years ago while he was working in the US on an L-1B visa. He was laid off from his job 3 months after we met and had to return to Denmark. Since then we've maintained a long distance relationship. Like most others on here, we spent countless hours chatting online, spent thousands and thousands of dollars flying back and forth between Los Angeles and Copenhagen and because of our long distance relationship, AT&T LOVES me and my insanely high monthly phone bills for international calls ;)

My husband arrived here in June to attend my brother's wedding and planned to leave in mid-July. Long story short, he ended up staying longer than intended and on Sept 15th we decided to get married (one week before his 90-day period was up under VWP).

When we started filling out our paperwork, we received conflicting information about adjusting status from VWP. Some of the things we were told, scared the ####### out of us! After finding this forum and consulting with two different immigration attorneys, I feel much better about the process. I'm crossing my fingers that all goes smoothly. I hope that I can learn from and help others who filed around the same time and are obviously going through a similar process as us. -Kristin

Uh...what? You said you got the NOA's but then you said you didn't get the email NOAs. Then you said the hard copies are on their way. So what exactly did you get? I'm confused.

Hi VJ's

I finally got how to post my timeline here :thumbs: ... I am adjusting my status from a B1/B2 visa. I met my husband in January 2011 and got married in May 2012. It took us a while to apply for my AOS because of his job relocation. We finally found a place to live here in NJ and we are getting used to be here.

I just hope that all this process finish soon and start the next chapter of our live together.

09-07-12 Package sent to USCIS

09-10-12 Confirmation of delivered package

09-14-12 Received NOA hard copies in the mail for I-130, I-485, I-765

09-17-12 Received hard copie for biometrics appointment (10-15)

10-15-12 Biometrics completed

11-02-12 Interview scheduled for 12-10

11-10-12 1st Notification EAD on production

11-14-12 2nd Notification EAD on production

I have concerns. Sent my AOS forms (I-485, I-765, and I-131) September 17th and received NOA's for 765 and 131 but not for 485. Then received biometrics appt. letter for I-765 and I-485. Had case number for 485 but have still not received NOA. What should I do?

08/25/2012- Married

09/14/2012 - Mailed AOS package (I-130,I-485,I-765) via USPS Express Mail.

09/17/2012 - Package delivered by USPS.

09/18/2012 - text notification receivefor 765/131 but not 485.

09/22/2012 - NOAs for I-130/ I-765 received in the mail.(not for I-485)

09/27/2012 - Biometrics appt scheduled for 10/04/2012.Had case number for I-485.

09/29/2012- duplicate letter for Biometrics appt.received.

10/10/2012 – Biometrics completed..

11/19/2012 - Case status checked and showed EAD/AP approved/production. No text or letter received.

11/27/2012 - EAD/AP combo card received

no NOA is not a concern. you have received a biometrics notice, that's more important.

Some people never receive NOAs at all.

07/26/2012 - 10/18/2012: 85 Days from Application Received to GC Received.
Removal of Conditions
07/22/2014 - 11/14/2014: 116 Days from Application Received to GC Received.
Naturalization
02/03/2016 - 05/31/2016 : 119 Days from Application Received to Oath Ceremony.

- 9/12/2012 package delivered and signed by XXX
- 9/14/2012 received email with receipt numbers
- 9/17/2012 check cashed
- 9/30/2012 received hard copy of biometrics appointment on 10/19/2012, notice dated on 9/21/2012
- 10/12/2012 successfully walk-in one week earlier without asking reason at New York Long Island City office
- 11/5/2012 started to work in a new firm
- 11/11/2012 EAD approved!!! AWESOME!
- 11/19/2012 EAD card delivered, one day ahead of my birthday!
- 1/11/2013 received txt and email about interview time
- 2/14/2013 interview - Got APPROVED on the spot!!
- 2/27/2013 USCIS online update - 485 decision!! we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status :) Later, my 130 update too!!!
- 3/4/2013 Card Production!!

thank you. I got offer and they won't want me as full time employee until I get EAD card..I have to work ad temp now.

btw, ur process is so smooth. good luck for your next week interview!

Yea.. I plan to go to the office tomorrow to see whether they allow me to walk in or not. Good luck. My friends all pass from long island office, they for citizenship, marriage green card. No worries!

I personally have no knowledge of this, but isn't there an extension? did you take it? if not, was it because you weren't qualified for it?

Walk-in earlier this afternoon at Long island city office. People there are nice and they allowed me to do finger print without asking any reason. The Chinese lady wish me good luck on green card application. I feel so good today even need to be in office until 6pm with chilly weather outside!

Hrm so, I keep checking my account on USCIS' website, but since completing my biometrics, there have been no "touches" and no official updates either. Is this too early to hope for any movement? Is it possible that I won't see any touches at all until a sudden move to EAD approval/interview date assignment?

  • 08/19/2005 – Entered U.S. as student. F1 visa, D/S.

  • Late, late 2007 – Met M (on a Harry Potter fan chat of all things. Curiously, neither of us are big HP fans.)

2009 – Graduated, awarded post-completion OPT (1 year).

2010 – Began M.A. program.

2011 – Graduated, awarded post-completion OPT (1 year).

06/25/2012 – Marriage.

09/6/2012, Day 0 – AOS filing submitted via Fedex overnight to Chicago lockbox (I-130, I-485, I-765).

09/7/2012, Day 1 – AOS filing delivered, signed for by J. Chyba.

09/11/2012, Day 5 – Received NOA1 for all three forms filed via text message, with hard copy to follow.

09/17/2012, Day 11 – Received NOA1 hard copies for all three forms and received biometrics appointment [10/4/2012].

10/4/2012, Day 28 – Completed biometrics.

10/20/2012, Day 44 – Received text notification of interview appointment [11/26/2012].

10/22/2012, Day 46 – Received hard copy notification of interview appointment [Holtsville field office, 11/26/2012].

11/26/2012, Day 81 – Interview completed. EAD and I-485 card production ordered same day. I-130 no change.

12/03/2012, Day 88 – Received EAD and Permanent Resident Card (green card). Resident since 11/26/12.

11/25/2014, ROC filing submitted via Fedex overnight to Vermont Service Center (I-751 + supporting evidence).

11/26/2014, NOA receipt date.

01/09/2015, Completed biometrics.

08/03/2015, Received RFE, deadline to respond Oct. 29.

10/28/2015, Sent off RFE response via Fedex overnight.

11/13/2015, Received I-551 stamp in Manhattan field office, validity 1 year.

02/04/2016, Received I-797 Notice of Action confirming removal of conditional permanent residence status. Date of decision was 01/28/2016.

when I had my biometrics done, I expected to wait at least a month for an update. That way I would be pleasantly surprised if it happened sooner :)

I had seen some people wait a month before anything happened, so I gave USCIS that time frame.
