Uh...what? You said you got the NOA's but then you said you didn't get the email NOAs. Then you said the hard copies are on their way. So what exactly did you get? I'm confused.

They will take your photo and your fingerprints. Thats the photo they put on EAD and GC. Had I known that i would do something nice to my hair...:lol: Wonder what they do with all those pp sized photo...hmmm, maybe for their record..:unsure:

huh? i thought the photos i provided for forms are gonna used by GC and EAD.. oh shoot! i need lose weight again!

- 10/12/2012 successfully walk-in one week earlier without asking reason at New York Long Island City office
- 11/5/2012 started to work in a new firm
- 11/11/2012 EAD approved!!! AWESOME!
- 11/19/2012 EAD card delivered, one day ahead of my birthday!
- 1/11/2013 received txt and email about interview time
- 2/14/2013 interview - Got APPROVED on the spot!!
- 2/27/2013 USCIS online update - 485 decision!! we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status :) Later, my 130 update too!!!

Yeah and no earrings for photo ay biometrics. Very plain pic. Thank God I wont have to show my GC everywhere I go. I have the prettiest pic on my DL...lol. That I'll need for everything pretty much...:)

Just wanted to note that I (non-citizen) completed my biometrics today at the Jamaica center in Queens, NY. It was an extremely straightforward experience (I was accompanied by M) and everyone was very polite. We were all done in perhaps 15 minutes.

Sooooo...

...what happens now? And in what kind of time-frame? Anyone?

  • 08/19/2005 – Entered U.S. as student. F1 visa, D/S.

  • Late, late 2007 – Met M (on a Harry Potter fan chat of all things. Curiously, neither of us are big HP fans.)

2009 – Graduated, awarded post-completion OPT (1 year).

2010 – Began M.A. program.

2011 – Graduated, awarded post-completion OPT (1 year).

06/25/2012 – Marriage.

09/6/2012, Day 0 – AOS filing submitted via Fedex overnight to Chicago lockbox (I-130, I-485, I-765).

09/7/2012, Day 1 – AOS filing delivered, signed for by J. Chyba.

09/11/2012, Day 5 – Received NOA1 for all three forms filed via text message, with hard copy to follow.

09/17/2012, Day 11 – Received NOA1 hard copies for all three forms and received biometrics appointment [10/4/2012].

10/4/2012, Day 28 – Completed biometrics.

10/20/2012, Day 44 – Received text notification of interview appointment [11/26/2012].

11/13/2015, Received I-551 stamp in Manhattan field office, validity 1 year.

02/04/2016, Received I-797 Notice of Action confirming removal of conditional permanent residence status. Date of decision was 01/28/2016.

Time frame is different for everybody. Now you just wait for the EAD and Interview notice, I am not sure which one comes first, usually should be the EAD, but who knows. Stay positive!

I believe it all depends in your local office. We received our interview email 12 days after biometrics. Still no update on EAD. Our interview was scheduled 32 days after email. So it really can vary..

I believe it all depends in your local office. We received our interview email 12 days after biometrics. Still no update on EAD. Our interview was scheduled 32 days after email. So it really can vary..

4/2012: Met online and began this cRaZY journey

9/2/2011: He proposed and I said YES!!After multiple trips back and forth.....

7/4/2012: He entered USA at LAX on B2 to visit 6 months

8/8/2012: We got married!!8/8/2012: AOS packet sent (Day 0)

8/10/2012: Packet signed for at 11:48a (Day 2)

8/14/2012: We got our txt/email notifications (all 4) (Day 6)

8/16/2012: Checks cashed.. (Day 8)

8/23/2012: Biometrics letter received via "snail mail" today.. September 7th at 12p in Sacramento CA (Day 15)

8/27/2012: Finally received all 4 NOA1 hard copies via US mail (Day 19)

9/7/2012: Biometrics completed!! (Day 30)

9/19/2012: Received txt message for interview!! October 22nd, 2012.. (Day 42)

9/21/2012: And the interview letter comes in snail mail.. October 22nd, 2pm in Sacramento..Time to get the final stuff together.. (Day 44)

10/16/3012: Received txt msg, EAD is approved and card being mailed. Right before interview and not really needed anyhow!! (Day 69)

10/19/2012: After a bunch of repetitive text messages, my husband received his combo card EAD/AP.. Of course four days before our interview!! (Day 72)

10/22/2012: Interview.. APPROVED!! (Day 75) Next journey ROC!!

10/29/2012: Green Card received in US mail... (Day 82) WOO HOO!!

08/25/2014: Lifting Conditions Packet Mailed to CA service center (Day 0)

08/27/2014: NOA1 Receipt (Day 2)

09/05/2014: Biometrics letter received via "snail mail" Set for September 15th at 10a in Sacramento CA (Day 11)

09/15/2014: Biometric completed... now we wait!! (Day 21)

11/21/2014: Card/Document Production email received!! (Day 88)

It varies but i also did my bio at the same office and received my interview notice i think 22 days after and exactly 1 month after they received my application. So hang in there.

Hey guys:

Just decided to leave my "foot prints here" as I also filed this September. :) Just so that I can join the club. I mailed my stuff on the 4th of September, got the text message on the 7th of September that they got my package and cashed out. Then on the 14th I've got the hard copy of NOA forms, as well as the I-797 appointment for biometrics for September 27th. I decided not to do a walk-in after asking around here and finding that some cases, yes you can get in and do it through walk in, other cases you get kicked out. I decided that two weeks is not a give or take, but the time to drive to the office and getting kicked out is just not worth it. Plus, everyone on this forum said it doesn't speed up the process, so I'll just follow the rules and I'll just go for the appointment date instead of do a walk-in. Either way, it is next Thursday....all right, just wanted to join the September club. :) All the best everyone!

Looks like everyone's gone quiet on the Sept filers front :-)

Also, just wanted to add that in VA, you can get your drivers license on presenting the following original documents at the DMV:

1. Original ID Proof (Passport)

2. Secondary ID Proof (USCIS I-797 notice for the I-485)

3. Your country driving license (if you have one)

4. Lease(or anything else as per the DMV) showing that you're a resident of VA

5. Legal Residence Proof (USCIS I-797 notice for the I-485)

We'll get one for a year and I guess this will be extended once we get the Green Card. The drivers test is easy and as long as you follow all the basic road rules-it's easy.

Did my walk in biometrics at Durham, NC today. No issues, just waited for people with appointments to finish and then I got my chance. I was in and out of the center in about 30 min.

Looks like everyone's gone quiet on the Sept filers front :-)

Also, just wanted to add that in VA, you can get your drivers license on presenting the following original documents at the DMV:

1. Original ID Proof (Passport)

2. Secondary ID Proof (USCIS I-797 notice for the I-485)

3. Your country driving license (if you have one)

4. Lease(or anything else as per the DMV) showing that you're a resident of VA

5. Legal Residence Proof (USCIS I-797 notice for the I-485)

We'll get one for a year and I guess this will be extended once we get the Green Card. The drivers test is easy and as long as you follow all the basic road rules-it's easy.

Are you talking about having the actual green card in hand in order to get the DL?

Day61....10/06/12- Received text notification about EAD card production

Day66....10/11/12- Received 2nd and 3rd text notification about EAD card in production

No, you don't need the GC in hand to apply for the Drivers License. When you go to the VA DMV, they'll take a look at the documents I mentioned and once you pass the tests, they'll issue a DL for a year. Hope this helps!
