Still no word about an interview date yet, huh? Awesome that you at least got your EAD card! It's been almost a month since biometrics and we haven't heard a peep....

Nope, but I will post the minute I get the notice.

I can only assume that the walk-in helped to speed up the biometrics in my case. Either way you should hear something this week since you did yours just a few days later.

I know, waiting sucks...it's hard to read that everyone is already going to interviews...

Norfolk VA Interview Experience

Approved. The interview lasted about 10 min and we basically went over our names/details and all the questions in the I-485. The IO took a look at our photo album (i had about 12 pictures), asked if we had anything to submit over and above what was in my original application and I gave her the following:

1. Credit cards in both our names

2. Screen shot of credit card statement showing I'm an authorized user and live at the same address

3. Affidavits

4. Rent receipt from the landlord in both our names

Only 2 questions were asked:

1. Why I wasn't enrolled into my wife's insurance plan (I didn't have a SSN)

2. If at my POE, the CBP officer asked me if I was married to a US Citizen (No)

3. If there has been a significant change in my wife's/sponsors financial situation (No)

She said I was approved, stamped my passport with the Green Card stamp (validity for 6 months), explained the ROC process and we were done. The IO was excellent and it was evident she had already gone through our file so she was very methodical in how she went about it all. Was a real pleasure.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Interview resulted in an approval, but it was a mixed bag.

Short interview. Began nicely enough. IO seemed quite affable. However, after I had some trouble understanding a couple of his questions (I have congenital microtia and this makes for slight hearing issues at times, though not enough to warrant aids--that it happened with the IO was just happenstance), M got most of the questions. Although the rest of the interview proceeded smoothly enough, at one point the IO basically went, "Okay, convince me" about our whole application. Bear in mind that since we had our wedding June 25th and applied Sep 7 or so, there hasn't been a whole lot changed since then. I was asked the names of M's dad, sibling, etc. Nothing too invasive.

At the end (about 15-20 minutes), the IO said we're approved, but added that he'd have preferred to see more paperwork, especially indicating our conjoined assets, etc. My passport wasn't stamped, but he explained that the card should arrive shortly and further information would be contained in the mail. No mention of removal of conditions, etc.

So that's it. It could've gone smoother, and I could definitely have helped make it smoother, but I got flustered and that showed. However, we seem to have made it out successfully, so I'll be looking forward to the online updates. Any idea when that may be?

We've applied for AOS from a K1 Visa. Our NOA1 date is 9/18/2012. We also applied concurrently for EAD/AP. We've gotten nothing in the way of a notice that our application is being worked on. Case status at USCIS is still in "accepted" mode. We haven't received the EAD/AP card, nor any notification of approval. We also haven't gotten any notice of an interview date for the I485. I see quite a few of you already have interview dates and have received your EAD's. Congrats to you on that!

We just keep waiting...

I'm beginning to think that there's no rhyme or reason why some get EAD/AP before others and some have to wait a long time for an interview notice. It seems like it's all by chance or luck. Hope you hear something soon. We're in the same boat as you. Completed biometrics on 10/30 and haven't heard a word since. Our case numbers never made it into the online system so we can't even check that.

Well stated Femery. Keep up the faith guys! Although the process has been faster than expected for some of us,the waiting game is really torturesome and exhausting! I lost significant pounds (yes a bad thing) just worrying and thinking about this. I wish there was a simpler way of tracking the status real time and quite often. The current system just adds up to the anxiety...so i think...

Donna & Paul I dont know if it's a coincidence or not, but I noticed that AOS from K1 have a longer timeline...at least the ones I've seen. I dont know if it's related, but I'm sure yours is on its way. Most people from september have already been processed and you can get lucky to not even need an interview :) keep up the positive thoughts!

We weren't so much concerned about AOS per se as we were about the EAD/AP being approved in a timely manner. Once that were to occur we could just take a deep breath and relax a bit.

Waiting is always the hard part, eh? I didn't lose weight over this one like I did with the K1 itself. That was really torturesome! I think you're right about the current system adding to the anxiety. When you can't see any progress whatsoever that just adds to the grey hairs. :hehe:

I'm beginning to think that there's no rhyme or reason why some get EAD/AP before others and some have to wait a long time for an interview notice. It seems like it's all by chance or luck. Hope you hear something soon. We're in the same boat as you. Completed biometrics on 10/30 and haven't heard a word since. Our case numbers never made it into the online system so we can't even check that.

You might be glad you can't check it. Obsessing over it makes it even worse I think. Hopefully you'll hear something soon as well. It doesn't seem to make any sense, does it? We thought when we got the NOA1's really quick and then our biometric appointment so soon after that meant our EAD/AP/AOS process would go really quickly, too. But that's not the case. I don't know how it works at the NBC. Do they get the files in, stack them up, and work in order of how they're received? Are they divided up and assigned to an IO who works through them at their own pace? I don't know. I'm have visions of stacks and stacks of our files sitting there just waiting for someone to "touch" them.

Good luck to you all in your processes! We finally got texts last night that Paul's EAD/AP has been approved and his card is in production! Woo hoo!!!! All this waiting around and not being able to work or drive was really starting to get to Paul. He's been a really good sport about it all, but it was starting to really get him down. It's been easier for me. I get to go out to work everyday. I can drive wherever I want. He has to wait for a ride and basically be a house husband to me. I'm really going to miss that, but I don't think he will.

Thank you and very exciting news on your end regarding the EAD production! I can agree and empathize with everything you wrote 100%. My husband is an engineer and is used to having a job to go to every day that provides stimulating intellectual activity. He's definitely down and a little depressed at present not being able to work. He, too, has also been a trooper but this process is starting to get to him. We live outside of Los Angeles, so it's hard to get anywhere here without a car. I think he feels slightly house bound. I urged him to find a hobby and now he's suddenly becoming a professional FIFA gaming expert (wasn't exactly what I had in mind). I'm praying, keeping fingers crossed, whatever, that our case will make it to the top of the pile soon! I also keep reiterating that this is all only temporary and just a small piece of time in relation to the rest of our lives. I'm not sure I'm doing a great job shedding light on the situation :bonk:
