Finally my EAD AND AP combo was approved and mailed today after waiting for along time.I think walk in Biometric was useless. Here is my timeline

9-11-2012: mailed the package I485,I765 , I13O & I131

9-13-2012: Package was received

9-17-2012: Received Notification for I485,I765,I130 & I131 on the mail

9-26-2012 :walk-in biometrics ( my actual appointment was Oct 18, 2012)

Walk-in Biometrics did not speed up the process

11-16-2012: received notification e-mail for the approval that EAD and AP Combo mailed Nov 16, 2012 (63days after the package received)

How long do I expect to receive the EAD&AP combo card?

I think my interview letter will take alongtime based on my timeline any hints MJamhuri and any folks input will be appreciated...

Our timelines are very similar and I just got the same text! I wonder if they all send them out at 3pm.

If you look at the timelines of the August filers here : august filers

it seems to take between 2-5 days.

@ Eve Ocean + @ CampLo: Guys, you should have received your interview letters by now considering we're all September filers. I'd recommend that you call up the USCIS and see if an interview date has been set. It wasn't too long ago I remember on this forum that someone had had their bio appointment and was waiting for word on the interview and they had to call and find out that the date was already set but it's just that they never received a letter.

Doesn't hurt to try and I'm only factoring in that September filers have started receiving their letters for interviews

wait, you had the appointment for Oct 18, and you did walk-in , you got already approved on Oct-16, so that means it really worked the walk-in because you should not be getting your EAD accepted without the biometrics ... Am I wrong? you got ur EAD accepted before your real appointment! :)

Alright, last week before the interview, still no movement on EAD, so I'm forgetting about it until Monday (date of our interview!).

*Anyone* who has interviewed at the Holtsville location recently, could you please post your experiences?

We're prepping a copy of our original application, updating with more recent photos/bills, and paperwork will be in process for a joint bank account by the time we interview. With a fairly simple and clean back-story, and ample current documentation, here's hoping for a smooth finish to Thanksgiving!

  • 08/19/2005 – Entered U.S. as student. F1 visa, D/S.

  • Late, late 2007 – Met M (on a Harry Potter fan chat of all things. Curiously, neither of us are big HP fans.)

2009 – Graduated, awarded post-completion OPT (1 year).

2010 – Began M.A. program.

2011 – Graduated, awarded post-completion OPT (1 year).

06/25/2012 – Marriage.

09/6/2012, Day 0 – AOS filing submitted via Fedex overnight to Chicago lockbox (I-130, I-485, I-765).

09/7/2012, Day 1 – AOS filing delivered, signed for by J. Chyba.

09/11/2012, Day 5 – Received NOA1 for all three forms filed via text message, with hard copy to follow.

09/17/2012, Day 11 – Received NOA1 hard copies for all three forms and received biometrics appointment [10/4/2012].

10/4/2012, Day 28 – Completed biometrics.

10/20/2012, Day 44 – Received text notification of interview appointment [11/26/2012].

10/22/2012, Day 46 – Received hard copy notification of interview appointment [Holtsville field office, 11/26/2012].

11/26/2012, Day 81 – Interview completed. EAD and I-485 card production ordered same day. I-130 no change.

12/03/2012, Day 88 – Received EAD and Permanent Resident Card (green card). Resident since 11/26/12.

11/25/2014, ROC filing submitted via Fedex overnight to Vermont Service Center (I-751 + supporting evidence).

11/26/2014, NOA receipt date.

01/09/2015, Completed biometrics.

08/03/2015, Received RFE, deadline to respond Oct. 29.

10/28/2015, Sent off RFE response via Fedex overnight.

11/13/2015, Received I-551 stamp in Manhattan field office, validity 1 year.

02/04/2016, Received I-797 Notice of Action confirming removal of conditional permanent residence status. Date of decision was 01/28/2016.

anyone that has gone to the interview please tell us how it went and what to expect!!! thanks!!

My interview was today at 11:00a. I was in and out in 10 minutes. The male I/O was very professional, brief and precise. We were sworn to tell the truth bla bla bla.., verified our identities and documents, specifically checked marriage certificate only! (carry originals and copies. Asked if we are living together, wifes full names and DOBs, husbands full names and DOB, asked if we had a bank statement with or any joint account with both our names (we produced that), where we met and that was it. The IO never asked to see a single pic! despite having over 500 printouts (NO JOKE HERE!!WE WERE OVER-DOING IT...lol!) and downloaded over 2,000 in an IPAD but we couldnt take the IPAD in coz security asked us to return our camera phones and our Ipads to our vehicles. I was then APPROVED on the spot with the approval letter printed out and systems updated.

My advice is, be calm, dress professionally, and relax. Its a simple, normal, office environment, not intimidating at all. Be brief with your answers. Dont be too verbose or answer what you have not been asked or prolong your answers unecessarily. DONT WASTE TIME. Put your documents in order before you go in, originals on one side and copies on the other. The officer was so happy on how fast we pulled out the two documents he asked for. If you can, lay all your package on the table after swearing in, even if they wont ask for it. I think the volume makes you appear to be more prepared, last pray to your superior being, you will get approved.

Now this was MY experience and my suggestions are in no way construed to work for everybody in my similar circumstances. Cases are still being adjudicated on a case to case basis, and outcomes vary accordingly! I wish you all the best and GOOD LUCK to all of you! Thank you all VJyers for your support and sharing in this site i really benefited from this site. I DID NOT NEED A LAWYER FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END OF THIS JOURNEY, just the community of visa journeyers and of course the lords grace. Be blessed folks!

  • I'm trying to not go overboard here because it just tends to be an awful mess when it comes to presenting it so I went with the following:
  • Marriage Certificate with Registrar (civil authority)-Original
  • Pictures-Wedding (4), Reception (2), Graduation (2), Visit to Dubai (2), Honeymoon (4)
  • Macy’s Wedding Registry Copy
  • Honeymoon-Tickets & Receipt
  • Credit card copies
  • Rent Receipts in both names –September, October & November
  • Affidavits testifying to marriage & ongoing marital union
  • Copy of Car insurance reflecting addition of name to policy
  • Air tickets for upcoming travel to Dallas for New Year
  • Cable Invoice and Payment receipt
This is over and above the usual-AOS Package copy, original identification documents for the both of us and some new payslip information for the missus. Hopefully, this should be enough. Of course, I shall let you know in a week if I'm successful or not!
