Another BS thread from you know who. Another hit and run job Steven should get a medal and some DNC cash. He damn sure worked for it.

Yeah, you guys are absolute GENIUSES to figure out that melting SEA ice will not raise ocean levels. BRAVO!!! End of story. Pop me open another cold one!

You missed something. The sea ice melting is not the DIRECT cause that will raise ocean levels! It is too complicated for a sound bite and so I know I will have lost most of you. For those with intelligence and whose ADD is not too severe let me explain. Open water absorbs much more solar radiant energy than does snow and ice. This leads to a positive feedback loop where the more ice that melts, the warmer the sea becomes and melts even more ice. As this ice melts the air above becomes significantly warmer as well and starts melting ice over land. The ice over Greenland as well as some af the ice over Antarctica is at risk to melt this way. THIS is where the rising oceans will get the water that may flood much of Florida and similar low-lying lands world-wide.

The planet itself is not at risk. It was here long before all the species that now inhabit it were and it will remain after we are gone. Humans may survive even a severe climate change. Or maybe we won't. Intelligent creatures usually don't foul their own nests. Are we as a species intelligent enough not to do that?

Youse Chicken Little's all think this is a doomsday scenario and youse all skip over the benefits to be had, especially to North America and Asia. Think of all the coast line that will be opened up. Look at a globe, and see how much more land will become accessible. And the mineral treasures - several government are salivating at that aspect.

I live in one of those areas. It is not all good. Ticks we never used to see here have been moving north out of Wisconsin where they have Lyme disease. I enjoy winter sports and anticipate having to travel more in the future. Not too major a problem. We may be able to plant things in our gardens that in the past would not do well here.

Tell the folks who live in Florida how they will benefit from a possible 20 ft or more rise in sea levels that may occur in the future. You say think of all the new coast-line. Its value will be dwarfed by the cost of all the previous coast-line's destruction from rising sea levels.

As to mineral treasures, I assume you speak about drilling for even more oil and gas in the arctic! :bonk:
