UK Interview Process Time Questions

Hello Fellow VJers,

No, I don't have my NoA2 yet (dog gone VSC), but have a couple questions for the UK London interview portion.

1.) I've heard NVC is having delays... is this typical (bottle necked) or is it just for a few people?

2.) From what I've read, you have to get the medical done before you can even schedule an interview, is this correct?

3.) After you have the medical sent, they schedule the interview... and this is estimated on the site as 10-12 weeks. Is this a correct estimate?

4.) After interview, how long does it take to get your actual visa? Do they mail it? I've heard if you have proof of travel plans, it helps?

I ask this, as we're considering flying to be together to wait the time together between medical and interview times. I appreciate any and all advice! :)

Thank you!!

1.) I've heard NVC is having delays... is this typical (bottle necked) or is it just for a few people? - Yes but nothing major.

2.) From what I've read, you have to get the medical done before you can even schedule an interview, is this correct? - Yes you have to do your medical before you can schedule an interview.

3.) After you have the medical sent, they schedule the interview... and this is estimated on the site as 10-12 weeks. Is this a correct estimate? - You need to send form DS2001 (ready to interview) as well and then they give you a time within a month. It was 6 weeks for me for others its shorter.

4.) After interview, how long does it take to get your actual visa? Do they mail it? I've heard if you have proof of travel plans, it helps? - You don't need proof of travel plans. In fact DO NOT book flights or make wedding plans until you have the visa as theres no guarantees. It takes less than 2 weeks for them to mail it to you.

I visited my fiance in the US in between the medical and interview. when i sent my DS2001 i sent a cover not requesting the interview for when i returned.

you need to read this thread. its your bible from now on. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/
