This very weekend, I expect to attend a function where my Congressman will attend. USCIS blew off his immigration-liaison staffer in regard to my question of "what effect will the Deferred Action processing have on traditional-petition processing" at the USCIS service centers. If the Congressman has no answer, he can write an official Congressional letter of inquiry, which USCIS will NOT be permitted to blow off.

I'll find out and will report ASAP.

If the Deferred Action program is a chief part of any holdup at the service centers, then THAT'S what 0bama will have had to do with it.

Many thanks to that. We will look for your reply and update. In the mean time, we are going to look at some homes.

Cheers

Stay positive and be thankful you're finally hand in hand with your wife. We're all blessed that we've made it to Removal of Conditions... a lot of people don't make it this far. :D

You're being a tad bit dramatic. Disapproval is very uncommon and nobody is forcing you to put your life. If you choose to do that, fine, but take some responsibility and stop trying to blame someone else for your foolishness. Immigration was a mess under Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama and I'm sure further back than that. And, truth be told, ROC is probably not the highest priority and for good reason - your wife is already a permanent resident, your family is together, and as annoying as it is, it's not really going to affect you if you have to wait a few more months. She has the right to live here, work here, travel, and every other benefit permanent residents have, so it's really not a big deal if it takes a long time. It's certainly frustrating to spend a ton of money and time on something that they're going to look at for 10 minutes and take several months if not longer to do it, but at least at this stage, you're together. If you want to move to the UK because Vermont is slow, it's probably a good idea - if waiting a few more months for a new card and no actual change of status or rights is beyond what you can handle, you're in trouble here.

OP, I don't understand why you need to put your life on hold. ROC is rarely denied if you have a bonafide marriage and a paper trail to prove it. My husband & I refinanced our auto loan and bought a house while I was waiting for ROC (8 months at VSC). Life is too short to put it on hold for anyone or anything.

x2.

If you're waiting on ROC and your marriage is going strong, you are wasting your time worrying about being denied.

Point is obama cant fix this, doesnt want to, and will not..all he wants is power..thats why i am voting him out in november..i never believed his lie the first time...and to the wars..i lost my best friend in iraq..so dont tell me about..you say obama fixed things...no...WE THE PEOPLE DID...IT WAS OUR MONEY HE TOOK FROM US FOR RHE BAILOUTS!! Well..unlike most people here in amercia..i have a real job to get ready for..trying to make a living a fullfill my dreams while my hard earned money is being given to lazy moonlizard that believe they have a right to MY earnings while they sit on their tails doing nothing..WOW!!

WAY to insult your fellow countryman.

Anyway...

OP this is a frustrating process. I know.

Approval rates on this site are determined by people updating their timelines, often people don't, they use this site for info, get it, leave and never update it; some people get divorced, some move back to their spouses country, some don't apply for ROC, some just forget to update their timelines! There are soooo many variables! Similarly if you have a bonafide relationship, don't be scared, prepare for the best, I would hazard a guess not too many people with bonafide relationships get denied.

Unfortunately you cannot blame Obama for the delays at the Vermont service centre. It has been slow for months but it was also not that slow when Obama was first in office and it has it's quick and slow times. Now is a slow time but that "slow" time started BEFORE deferred action was introduced so unless you are implying he should be at the VSC and approving applications himself, I am not sure how it could be his fault?

I wish you the very best of luck with whichever path you choose, my best advice would be to live your life to the very best of your ability, stop placing blame and being angry as your anger is unfounded and won't do anyone any good (Obama doesn't know you're made at him) and can only serve to negatively impact your life.

Yeah what does this have to do with Obama? Vermont has been slow - I guess when Bush was around, Bush was blamed? ;-)

No Bush was blamed on the high gas prices, now we are blaming that on Obama, the oil spill of BP and the recent fire. :)

Yep, really wonder what the Pres has to do with slow approval rate that most have experienced. Typical govt red tape as I see it. The process can now be done electronically so it has been streamlined since I was approved. Think it's more of a personal political view thing. Never have I seen such disdain and blame cast on a Pres in my life. I don't even think Nixon got that much disdain but that was before my time so I can't call it.

You're being ridiculous here, in my opinion. First, waiting to have conditions lifted is not that big of a deal at all, as you are with your spouse and have a letter that allows you to travel and work. Yeah, it's annoying, but if I had to dedicate resources to either A) ensure that people get their conditions lifted faster or B) ensure that people don't get butchered by the Assad regime and/or Al Qaeda militants operating in Syria, I would unhesitatingly choose B. Sorry if that impacts you, but that's the way it goes: there is a terrible war being waged in Syria and no one should be condemned to death just so you have the pleasure of getting your green card a couple weeks early. Learn to deal with it.

Second, your Peruvian friends are nuts if they think that Bush left the economy in good shape. You may not remember this, but in late 2008 the entire financial sector of this country absolutely imploded, causing fast amounts of wealth to be destroyed, the credit market to become extremely restricted, and unemployment to skyrocket. Next time someone asks you why American's aren't getting all nostalgic for the good old days back when we all saw our 401ks lose half of their value, you can tell them that.

Third, using Peru as some yardstick to measure the United States against doesn't make any sense. The reason why the sol has gone up has little to do with the economic health of the United States and more to do with Peruvian economic indicators. Since the fall of the Fujimorato in 2000 Peru has experienced tremendous growth in GDP. For a while they were averaging 9% a year. Peru had the fortune of having the largest-producing gold mine in the entire world right as the price of gold shot up as a consequence of the DJIA plummeting under Bush. Vast amounts of wealth were created. Peru has also had the ability to greatly expand its tourism sector, with Machu Picchu being declared one of the "new" wonders of the world, the crime situation being brought under control, and the internal conflict against the PCP-SL and MRTA brought to and end. As I'm sure you know, ever since about 1987 Peruvians have been paranoid of inflation with good reason and the government thus never prints up gobs of cash like other Latin American countries do, nor does it allow the state to grow. With a booming economy, a small state, and little money being printed, yeah, the Peruvian nuevo sol has gone up. If you measure the dollar against the Euro, a currency that people actually care about and spend, obviously you see the exact opposite effect -- the dollar has gone up and the Euro down since Obama took office.

In any event, I don't like Obama or Romney or Bush, and I think that USCIS does a pretty bad job at a lot of things. If someone wants to vote for Mitt Romney because he had to wait seven months to get his removal of conditions petition adjudicated, I guess that's his right, but it is extraordinarily silly. Tell me, what is Mitt Romney's plan to ensure that ROC petitions are adjudicated faster? I've looked at the RNC party platform and strangely I've missed the part about petition adjudication. Can you let me know what page its on? Thanks.

Glad to hear it, si man. Keep a positive upper lip and a stiff attitude. Should this thread be closed for whatever reason, I'll post my findings in a new thread, either in the "USCIS Service Centers" forum or the "General Immigration" forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Politics aside, in the grand scheme of things you've not been waiting that long. You've already submitted your application, so just stick it out. You might not even get a RFE. You're just in a crappy long queue. You knew there was a wait when you applied (at least you should have) and these little panics are quite normal I think, but I don't think throwing in the towel is the right option.

I filed in January and we've been carrying on as normal. Saving up for our mortgage deposit, another baby on the way, paying down my husbands debts etc, seeing friends, having trips etc. I took a first time home buyers course and have been investigating special state plans for 1st time buyers and think we're in a good spot. Normal stuff. If you really think your life is on hold, use this "down time" positively and get your ducks in a row. Then, when you get your card in hand, you take off at rocket speed! :)
