Expediting an application - US Consulate Montreal

Hi all,

I was wondering if you can still expedite an application through the US Consulate in Montreal? (I read this guide by one of the VJ members, which says you can: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_for_Montreal_Beneficiaries_%E2%80%93_Electronic_Processing_and_New_Online_Forms)

If so, should we email Supervisor Sue at NVCElectronic@state.gov or is there another email address for her? The guide doesn't mention another email address.

I'm asking because my husband and I are currently living in Canada, but only as temporary residents - our work permits expire on December 31 of this year. He's a Russian citizen, so he can't stay in Canada without a visa. We're still in the process of gathering documents for the AOS and the DS-260 application, and we probably won't be able to get the police certificate from Russia for another month. We're really worried that he might have to go back to Russia and reschedule the interview there (which will take another few months and a couple of hundred extra dollars).

If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!

Yup, expedites are still possible (otherwise I would have edited that out of the wiki ;) ).

And I should have made it more clear in the wiki, but you'd actually send the request to the NVC Inquiry email address (although I'm sure your email to NVC Electronic would still get to a supervisor). Heck, send an email to both email addresses, see which one gets a reply faster!

If you're at NVC now and the work permits only expire at the end of the year, you should be fine. If you can send in the two packages within the next month or so, you should have an interview before then as it's only taking 1.5-2 months from case complete to interview date.

Remember, if you expedite and get approved, your interview will be that much sooner, which means you'll need that PCC even quicker (along with the AOS and IV packages).
