Good Morning,

I have been trying to book an appointment for Montreal since July 17th. I wonder how many VJers are doing the same.

Hello All,

I have since filled in my timeline. I have received the Packet IV. Their records show that it was emailed to me in January, although I never found it. I am afraid it must have gone to my spam, which I rarely look at. I emailed them, and in May they sent me a very generic response. An excerpt as follows:

"Thank you for your message to the Immigrant Visa (IV) unit of the U.S. Consulate General in Montréal, Canada.

"We review and reply as appropriate to all e-mails in order they are received.

"DO NOT send inquires about the status of the case. All cases are handled and reviewed in turn.

Please note: IV Unit will NOT reply to inquiries about DHL courier services, scheduling / rescheduling an appointment, status of documents sent to/from the Consulate. These inquires should be addressed to CSC Visa Information Services <http://canada.usvisa-info.com/> using the contact details listed here http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_service_options

"The IV Unit receives a high volume of messages daily. You may expect a reply to your inquiry within two weeks. Please do not send the same inquiry by both mail and email as this will further delay a reply.

"1. If you have received an interview appointment letter from the National Visa Center or you have scheduled your own interview, please use the following web resources to prepare for your interview:

"2. If you have been asked to provide additional documents, please send all the required documents together.

"3. If you have difficulties registering for the DHL courier services, scheduling / rescheduling an appointment, please try again to access the CSC Visa Information Services.

"4. If you have sent your passport to the IV unit and need it returned without a visa being issued.

"5. Important Notice for Diversity Visa (DV) 2012 Entrants"

As far as I knew there was only one item that could possibly pertain to me: needing more documents. Because there is no way to speak to anyone at the consulate, I called NVC several times and finally found someone who would talk to me about my case. She told me they had all the fees and documents that were needed, it had been sent to the consulate in January, and to wait for Packet IV. So I waited...and waited and waited. I emailed again in July and got the very same generic response. This time I called any and all phone numbers and learned that the Packet IV had been sent in January, and I needed to schedule the appointment. So since July I have been on the scheduling website hitting the refresh button and getting the same message - No Appointments Available. Clearly I am not searching for the appointment at the right times.

Because my step-sons are under the age of 14, I have submitted waivers; once in July, and the second time in August. I am assuming because I have not had any responses that the waivers have been denied.

In an act of frustration I did call my congressman:) They were very polite, took my information, and said they would see what they could do. I'm not expecting anything more than for them to tell me to keep watching the scheduling site for appointments, but it was nice of them to listen to my frustration.

Hi Amberlynnloves,

I am curious as to how you know that they are booking for November? If they were, wouldn't I be able to snag one of those appointments? And yes, I have been through all the steps and paid all the fees. I have already post my story:)

When you log into the CSC Montreal Embassy website, http://usvisa-info.com/en-ca/selfservice/us_immigrant_visas you go to the top of the page where it says "Sign In" You enter the beneficiary's passport number, date of birth, nationality, and then it brings up a page. You then click "Schedule An Interview". It asks you if they are Canadian Citizen, or Non-Canadian Citizen. Then you select Non-Immigrant or Immigrant (K1 Select Immigrant). Then you click on the option that has (Fiance-K1/K2) next to it. It brings you through some pages just click Continue. Then it should bring you to a page where you select an interview date. The time of day means NOTHING but before it brings you to the calendar, if you look under the beneifiary's name on the top square it should say "Next Available Interview Date is 60 days Away" Thats how I know they are scheduling for November 5th. 60 days from today is November 5th.

I am not using the Fiance option. I am sponsoring my two stepsons, and our scheduling comes out of NVC. For my situation the appointment line only says "Appointments are not Available," but does not include when they are making appointments for kids.

Oh, trust me, I do. I find that those who answer the phone are no more educated as to scheduling than I am. Even their supervisors have very little knowledge. The most I have learned from schedulers is that appointments are released randomly.

Newbie,

I'm in the same situation. I'm already married and my American wife's been in Canada for the past 10 years for schooling. We're now trying to move to the U.S.

Booking the interview in Montreal through the CSC website definitely seems to be a good lesson in patience and persistence. Also we waited to receive our Packet 3 for 5 months, before emailing them to find out what was happening. Only after a few emails and weeks did a proper response come telling us the Packet the had been sent to us 5 months previous (never received). So it seems like we had a similar experience to you in the delays and poor correspondence.
