Hey gang, I had a question about the I-134, affidavit of support. In the instructions, one of the requirements is to have my bank officer state how much money was deposited over the last year. She was unable to provide that, but gave the amount of a recent direct-deposit from my employer. I also supplied the other finacial requirements(employment letter, stocks, etc). Is this sufficient? Thanks!

As long as your income is above 125% poverty line, the bank letter is not a requirement. I provide them with Tax transcripts which show how much I made past 3 years, letter from employer stating nature of job, salary, and if job is temp or perm position.

The other assets are required if income is low. In my case I make way more than the poverty line and my bank account is always low, I pay bills using that account and the rest goes into tax deferred investments will just put a zero on the bank account line. I wont even list assets because of my income level.

I also have read that they will accept copies of past few months of the bank statements, I receive them from my bank in PDF form, and can print them out if needed.

Poverty line can be found here: http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-864p.htm

My brother (co sponsor) who was over the poverty line still got a letter from the bank because it says to do so on the I-134.

They couldn't give him that info either but I believe they could supply when he opened his account and how much he had deposited in the past 6 months. He also printed out his bank statements online and I used those as well. He also had a letter from his employer, as well as the past 3 years tax transcripts. Oh and the I-134 was notarized.

Good luck.

My bank did the same thing. THey only gave me a letter with the accounts/ current balance and date accounts were opened. I requested my statements on the phone that I couldn't get on line and had January to current month of statements to include.

Hey, they ask for it, they get it!
