It is okay if you do not send PCC with DS-230.You just have to mention that you will be carrying the document directly to the interview.

But now that your case is completed at NVC then why worry.

So very true, there is so much false information being posted here in Visa Journey. In fact, you only need a photo copy of the police certificate with translation when sending the IV packet to the NVC. Had I known this I would of sent my IV Packet a few weeks ago.

My fiancé was told at the VFS office that he didn’t have to send anything through them if he didn’t want to. He was just required to pay the courier fee there no matter what even if we sent nothing through the VFS office. The fee was like 337 rupees or something close to that...

You can take any of the docs to the interview that you didn’t hand in to the VFS office. The office will give you a receipt saying what you handed in and the Embassy will tell you want additional things they would like to see during your appointment.

My fiancés interview lasted about 5 mins in Mumbai and they only asked him 4 questions then they approved him.

So remember to breath =) ……… and be organized =) …….. and Good Luck =)

Just to make sure, we don't HAVE to mail the police checks in with the IV packet???? We can bring them to the interview instead? It's the only thing we are waiting for now so it would be nice if we could send in the IV packet without them.

Thanks for clarification.

Hi Guys,

I have a quick question. My wife is about to mail in the DS-230 form along with all the required Civil Documents (Location: Kolkata - INDIA). I have a couple of questions.

1. She has been staying in the current location for almost 10 years but doesn't have proof of Residence since her permanent address mentioned in passport is different? will that be a problem? But our marriage Certificate and her driver's license does have the current address but that only goes back to 3 years or so.

2. She got the PCC (Current Address) but that doesn't mention her entire stay in that locality. just says "That there's no criminal record found in the last 6 months". Will that be an issue or the PCC does need to mention the entire time period?

3. Her consulate is Bombay, so does she need to submit a passport clearance as well (her passport was renewed less than a year ago)?

4. Also is it recommended to send the PCC later or along with DS-230?

5. Also does the NVC ask for additional documents/proof of residence?

Please advice.

Thank you

Arka

Make sure you are adding her previous addresses in DS-230 form.

2. She got the PCC (Current Address) but that doesn't mention her entire stay in that locality. just says "That there's no criminal record found in the last 6 months". Will that be an issue or the PCC does need to mention the entire time period?

That's fine

3. Her consulate is Bombay, so does she need to submit a passport clearance as well (her passport was renewed less than a year ago)?

It's not mandatory to send PCC to NVC. But VFS will ask one original PCC prior to your interview. Visa cannot be issued without PCC submitted either at VFS or to consulate on an interview day. It does not matter how soon her passport was renewed.

4. Also is it recommended to send the PCC later or along with DS-230?

I did send original Police Clearance Certificate from local police DSP office NOT Passport Verification Certificate issued by PSK office. Since your file is going to Mumbai, you should just put a note in your IV cover page that Passport Verification Certificate will be submitted at the time of an interview.

5. Also does the NVC ask for additional documents/proof of residence?

Not needed in IV package at NVC

Please advice.

Thank you

Arka

I know 100% that PCC is not a required document for Mumbai, India consulate applicants but not sure about UK applicants. I would recommend to post this question in UK regional section on VJ as well as call NVC operators to find out what they have to say. Don't waste your time waiting for PCC if it's not mandatory at NVC stage.

Thanks Sunshine!!

I emailed the consulate here, we are living in Cyprus but not DCF as it's not available anymore, but they told me that "the Nicosia consulate will not accept the application from the NVC until it has been fully documented." I suppose this means we have to wait, but waiting for the police clearance in CYprus takes months. Does anyone else have any experience with this that they can share??
