Hi all,I got my LPR through VAWA five years ago, I have since remarried to an American in military and we have a son. Now am wondering how my current marriage wil play in this given my circumstances. Anyone know about this? Thanks

Thanks for responding. Yes I do have a green card thru VAWA, they asked for more proof of marital relationship, I had sent marriage cert, my divorce decree, his divorce decree from previous marriage & our sons birth cert. Am confused as to why they want marital stuff when my citizenship is based on GC thru VAWA.

We have been married 1year and half, I have had my GC since 2007

Ok here we go again.

I filled for vawa in 2010 and i received my greencard 2011.i and my husband went thru court for divorce and child custody but i later dismiss all the case because i wanted my family back and my husband promised me to change.ok long story short.he never changed.problems became worse and was scared he is going to hurt me again so i recently moved.

My question is do i fill for divorce before filling for my citizenship.cos there is no way am going back to that crazy man,who today he is happy and tomorrow he want to choke the life out from you.

and where can i get the forms?thank you

I think it's much better if you just divorce him. The processing is much faster and you can apply for citizenship after 5 years after you receive your greencard (e.g. if you received it in 2007, you're eligible to apply for citizenship on 2012) just my thought.

Yulia, I think it's a lot easier if you are divorced esp if he's still abusive to you, the reason for VAWA was to give you a chance to move on with your life without the abuse. You will have to report your marital status and is he willing to assist you with citizenship? You can ask a lawyer but am sure in your case, it's better to do it alone.

Sorry I mispelled you name Yulisa
