What Proof of Citizenship Should I get for my kids?

Hello fellow VJ members,

HOw are y'all? I had my N-400 interview and passed last August 21,2012 and when i checked the status today it says that my application is now placed for oath scheduling que.

If i get my Certificate of US Citizenship i am planning to get my 2 kids their proof of citizenship. I am not able to get the N-600 for it costs $600 for each.

My questions are:

1.Is it okay to just get them the US passports as their proof of citizenship? Any other proof i can get aside from N-600 which is very expensive?

2. Are my 2 kids eligible to apply for a US passport once i get my certificate of naturalization? (kids are minor, 16 and 11) they came here in 2010 thru I-130 and was issued IR2 and they have their 10 yr green cards?

3.I just need to get the kids their proof of Us citizenship coz the way i understand it once i get my citizenship my kids will become citizens too..am i right?

Provided they meet all of the four requirements of the Child Citizenship Act then they will become US citizens on the same day you do.

These four requirements are:

• Have at least one American parent, either by birth or naturalisation.
• Be under 18 years old.
• The child must be in the physical and legal custody of the American parent.
• The child must have been legally admitted to the United States as a permanent resident.

As soon as they meet these requirements then they automatically become US citizens. You do not have to obtain citizenship documents for them but can instead jump right to a US passport which would also serve as evidence of US citizenship.

I guess my 2 minor kids meet those 4 requirements since they are in my custody since birth and me and my kids are here as Legal Permanent Residents holding our 10 yr. green cards.

They came here as immigrant IR2. Thank u i just wanna make sure if i understand it right that once i get m y certificate of naturalization then my kids becomes citizens as well.

Yes, they will automatically become citizens the day you do, since that is the only requirement that they have not met (and they can be done in any order).
