The next best guys are doing thier utmost but they are not capable of doing the job at the NFL level. The owners need to start getting talks going or more and more games will get decided by the umpires instead of by the players.

Individually they are OK. Most of them could join an existing NFL crew and do OK, and eventually get up to speed. You can't expect replace the entire staff of any business all at the same time and expect things to run smoothly. As long as fans keep going to the games, it takes a lot of pressure off the owners to get things resolved.

If this drags on for the whole season, don't expect to see the locked out refs back. The NFL will move on. Baseball did when the umpires went on strike. Nobody really noticed after a while.

Stay on topic. No post whoring.

affirmative action does not work.

We need qualified officials like we need qualified people in all jobs. Using people that otherwise did not make the cut is a bad idea...the debacle with the officials is simply well televised proof.

UMPIRES? Never mind the four judges , the head linesman or the head of the officiating crew, the referee. Baseball has four umpires, football has only one. Anyone who's ever seen a football game or knows ANYTHING about football, would NEVER make such a mistake.

Yes, the Umpires should have called Aaron Rodgers safe at home plate. In other NFL news, Arnold Palmer just knocked out Cassius Clay in the forth quarter.
